Things I Don't Get
Argh. I get that happening. I can tell the truth or give sensible advice til I'm blue in the face, but I'm not believed.
Then 99.9% of the time, people find out my sensible advice works and is correct. They are astounded! Meanwhile I've followed my own advice and done better than them. Numpties.

That's how decent people should behave. I think the problem is that social media has allowed everyone to sit anonymously behind their keyboards and type awful things. So other people have fought against them, and they fight back so it's a constant ding dong battle of fighting.
The human race needs to calm down and try to get along with each other again. When I was little, my socialist parents had conservative friends. They didn't get into arguments, they just didn't talk about politics for the sake of getting along well and having fun social events. They talked politics when they went to political meetings. There's a time and a place for things.
I try not to discuss political matters unless I'm around people with the same political views as me.

I don't understand how one can be sure their ideas have value if they can't defend them. If those ideas can't be defended it might be because they're weak/uninformed/etc. One will never gain the benefits of criticism if they only preach to the choir.

All political views are valuable to whoever agrees. Nobody is obliged to be impartial to every political view. In an ideal world maybe.
Also people who have difficulty explaining themselves and not being listened to properly, don't often get to defend themselves. And people don't take low intelligence into account. A WP member can have very strong political views that may offend some, but if they're intelligent enough to have the ability to win the battle of words then I'm not saying they get agreed with but they don't get grief. Intellectually weak people like me who can't think of the right words to explain political views just get hated and nobody will move on even if I have learnt from it and trying not to make the same mistakes again, if people keep dragging things up then it's going to escalate into me saying something I'll regret, again (not aimed at you by the way).

Then don't say you respect everyone to begin with, when you clearly haven't done that.
The decent and honest thing to do is to say yes, you have been disrespectful and hurtful many times. And that you are learning from it (if you are at all).
Edit: you have hateful views - no matter what words you dress them up in.

By value, what I mean is that it actually serves to inform people. I can have the view that the sky is orange but that opinion doesn't stand up to any scrutiny because it's incorrect. It lacks value because it can't inform anyone.
I do agree that debate isn't the be all, end all of if one's ideas are worthwhile. Not everyone is good at debating, but that doesn't mean a more skilled debater couldn't defend those same positions.
Sometimes though, if one is constantly having to regret what they say, they might want to reconsider what they believe. If people keep insisting something one says or does is rude, it might actually be true and instead of chalking it up to poorly expressing their attitudes or ideas, they might need to consider the problem is with the attitude itself.
I understand how ego plays a role, but I don't get why people are often so afraid to lose a debate. If there's weak points in one's argument, having them pointed out allows one to focus on them and either rethink or reinforce their case.
Losing doesn't mean one is wrong, it means they had a weak argument. How else does one get stronger arguments than by having the flaws pointed out?

Uhm Joe90 am not meaning to be disagreeable with you.. but you write in quite a literate way from my observations .
Low intelligence I think is/can be a mere matter of Perception. Perhaps trouble with choosing the more apt way to phrase things can be evidence of a concious mind processing concepts . With an intent to word things in such a manner that members of your viewing audience, might perceive the concept you are conveying in a better manner?
Hardly something attributable to anyone with *Low Intelligence* ?
And this piece of writing is not meant to be miscontrued as agreeing or disagreeing with anyone in this thread.
often my inability to use the keys of the various types of keyboards i am faced with using due to physical disability , Or apple predictive writing addition to their programs has often changed words that i have written, when i am quite sure that I had typed the ideas out very well, changing entire ideas . . And my proof reading may not be as quick as my ability to push the submit key for any given post. Can convey a very different image of how I wish to appear in my writing here, on any given day, And more so when my brain is hampered by fatigue.
So perhaps , i may need to include myself in the low intellectual level on this site aswell.

Also I hardly ever judge people personally here. Please ignore the words "political groups" and digest the word "personally".
I already done that, and I still feel guilty. When people keep dragging it back up I start beating myself up about it again. And I am learning from it, because I haven't done it again, have I?
What makes me mad is that I'm not the only one here who has said such things, there have been a few members who express extreme political views that have stirred up arguments and offended people but they don't get flack for it.
I don't think so. Hateful means things like that heartlessaspergers blog, that is intense hate speech that even I got offended by, probably because I'm insecure about having ASD. Hateful is also severe racism like saying I wish all people of a certain colour were dead or something, which I have never even thought, let alone wrote. Stuff like that. The worst thing I have ever done in all my 13 years of being a member here was the transphobic joke I posted. I am sorry but I can't turn back time and change that, all I want to do is not to do it again and move on. There was another regular member here who also made transphobic remarks in that same thread but he never gets any flack for it.
Most of my (political) views are what I've been told or heard NT people say many times, so I was merely repeating them, forgetting that most Aspies are impartial on political views.
We really should take this up in another thread.

All level of racism is hateful.
The other member does not go on about it and whitewash, playing the victim and making out the rest of us are the bad guys for calling them out on it. We have been over this before.
It is you who kept bringing it up. I simply responded to your posts where you or others have misrepresented the facts, because I find it disrespectful to the groups you have targeted.
I have nothing further to say to you.

I can't do worse than Gavrilo Princip already did.
New thread because hopefully it will be worth discussing, it's about time there was an actual philosophical debate instead of bickering over politics:
