Hey I tell you what though, there was a tornado barely five miles from here not too long ago - they're extremely rare here.

Well you might be surprised, TPP! The UK actually gets more tornadoes per square mile than the US. Ours tend to be mostly fairly weak though. I learnt this, along with everything else I know, from watching QI

Heh, you weren't even around in 1987 for the hurricane-force storm? I had trouble walking home from school in that, couldn't fight against the wind to get under the railway bridge.

The Great Storm of 1987, yes, I've read enough about it, but it was 8 years before me!
Plus I'm in the north, where it wasn't as bad.

Ah me neither, not usually anyway.
I used to be indoors pretty much all the time and it was depressing for me.
