Oh, AuntBlabby, I can do FAR more than repair computers :D I know TCP/IP like the back of my hand. I used to eat, sleep, breath & sh!t TCP/IP - I used to even dream about it.

I can describe in finite detail to you, how the Internet works.

I progressed on from that and researched who was responsible for writing the protocols for the Internet and even went so far into researching their lives.

Talk about Special Interests :roll:

I write C/C++ programs that utilise sockets. TCP/IP software for UNIX based computer systems but as you know, UNIX and Windows systems interact all the time.

Look up little endian and big endian bit order.

am familiar with the bare concepts of 1s and 0s and the concept of them assembling into larger units which eventually form analogs of an audio signal. other than that I'm clueless of the digital world.

That's how the Internet works. Everything is converted into big endian and sent in packets. And then, depending on the operating system, it's converted into little endian.

^^^all I know is that on the occasions I have to reconstruct a corrupted audio file, the dialog box asks me if it is little ending or big endian, and something about motorola versus intel.

The Internet is so smart, people have no idea when they press the enter key what happens behind the scenes. It's so smart and it works flawlessly and so seamlessly but you have no idea of the intelligence that goes on behind the scenes, all by itself

all I know is that when it crashes or web pages fail to load on my end I generally say "@#$%! !!"

It'll be most likely little Endian. Big Endian is only used by a few corporations. Little Endian is most often the standard.

No matter. Just reverse the bit order and you're fine! No biggie!
