One day (or night), when you least expect it, and probably at a most important and crucial time in your life, you'll die.

You may have time to think, "Not now!" but in the end, it doesn't matter and your passing well be the same as everyone else's.
Nothing at all matters in the end.
The world keeps on turning without you.

That was depressing,

I have been extremely suicidal lately, I probably don't need to think about death.

ImAnAspie,

Do you know why bash would display the home directory's name instead of ~?

I didn't not want to reformat my hard drive but wanted to reinstall Arch Linux so I rm'd every directory on the hard drive except my home folder. Reinstalled Arch Linux and created my old user back and told it it use the old directory.

Now when I am in my home folder in bash it shows,

Username@Hostname:HomeFolder $

instread of,

Username@Hostname:~$

So it turns out deleting the user and creating a new one fixed this problem.

Hm...

I used the same command to add the user, didn't effect my home directory at all so I am happy.

I used to love Neopets. Haven't been on in years, I might want to give it a shot again.

Hi, thought I'd join this thread with some comments of questionable randomness. :)

DCJ, cool you fixed your problem, because otherwise, I might've had to break out all the basic level one tech support advice:
Is your computer on?
Oh wait, it is? Oh, uh, try rebooting.
That didn't work? Well, are you sure you're still using Bash?
You are? Did you install the most recent updates?
Oh, you don't want to do that? How about typing rm -rf?

LOL. OK, I'm done goofing on tech support now. :D

lol

I more or less did rm -rf / but instead I removed everything but the home folder, then reinstalled. I did that over format because I wanted to use the same encryption keys. Also aside from reinstalling Arch, the bulk of my work over the last few days has been on the virtual side of things. Although reinstalling Linux is a big deal, I was able to keep the bulk of my configure files so I am more or less back where I was except in a few core areas such as USB mounting that I want to completely redo anyway. I am about to get a crash course in udev rules 8)

You should totally do it if you have the patience to deal with the old site running on new computers. Hm, maybe I should go on with my old laptop...
