I want to make a magical girl anime themed book series, but...
1: I'm scared it'll suck, like my old My Little Pony fanfics featuring good ol' Sugar Daisy, and if I don't delete it, I'll find it a few years later, and facepalm, thinking, "what the heck was I even thinking?"
2: I don't wanna base it off of anything other than the magical girl category of animes, and that would mean I would have to make my main girl part of a group, and if I make them up, get attached to them and think of them as my friends, then make some real life friends, I would forget all about them, and that would make them feel pretty sad without a doubt.
If it sucks, what's the worst that could happen?
Will it be really fun to make?
As for the If you made up characters, and then made new RL friends, your characters would still be there when you're ready for them. They can't feel sad about their creator, that doesn't make any sense, or am I missing something? Your life isn't part of their story so they wouldn't feel anything. You decide who they are, what they think and feel.

Being by yourself is so much more peaceful...
Yeah.
Except when it's not peaceful inside your head, in which case, other people can help to fix that at times.

That's not good.
What do you do to make life more bearable or have fun?
