Sometimes they get big typhoons there too.

Well, Sylkat, the stormy season is supposed to be done and over here. And the last big typhoon we've had was a few months ago, and I was compelled to go to work in the midst of heavy winds and rains. Glad that was over.

I bet you are. You remind me of my son, who's also an Aspie. He was so worried about getting to work when hurricane Isabel hit here years ago. He didn't make it far and a cop told him to go home and not worry about it. I don't know why his father didn't tell him not to go out in all of that. :x

That was really awful indeed. I didn't like the idea of going to work at that type of weather, but "business need" (a reason that, in my book, I find ridiculous and stupid) is forcing me to do so, and my former supervisor was compelled by management to check on me on the way. And I believe your son had the same mindset as mine at that time. -_-

That's good. :) So did you just have the pizza for Thanksgiving? I've done that before myself.

Dear Taupey, 2 pizzas for Thanksgiving, basically spent the day in bed, staying warm, trying to stave off another cold...there are some NASTY respiratory infections going around here. Right now it's 7:30 AM, I decided to get to the grocery store early; it's already busy!!
Can't these people sleep late? This is MY time to shop! Sylkat :x

*gives Sylkat a hug* The pizza sounded good. I might do that for Christmas this year.

8O OMGS That's right it's BLACK FRIDAY! I am not a Black Friday shopper because people are extremely crazy and rude and there are far too many of them. I get serious sensory overload. :shaking:

Dear Taupey, Since you are famously compassionate, yet have a sense of humor , can I tell you about the perhaps MOST stupid thing I ever did? Many years ago, a friend had 2 small kids and hadn't had a chance to get a couple of the most-wanted Christmas gifts...she and I were out and about that afternoon/evening, getting things done, well we wound up in ToysRUs on the evening of December 24th. No further words are needed, right?

That had to suck! I remember doing things like that for my children to get them exactly what they wanted for Christmas until I was frazzled. Quite honestly, I use to hate Christmas because it was so stressful for me because I was the one who had to do everything and make it all perfect for everyone. I stopped when I became ill and now I don't hate it anymore.

However, if you start your shopping around an hour before the store closes, most of the people will have gone and you can scavenge what remains (which works for some stores). I did not notice anything unusual when my father brought me to a Fry's Electronics (R? C?) store with only around 0040 slots to spare.

Dear Kevin, the frenzied, ravaging Christmas shoppers get worse and worse the closer it gets to closing time, at least in Southern California malls. You must live somewhere that people are actually civilized...I'm glad your father's idea worked out for you...Sylkat

Dear Taupey,Many years ago I went to the classiest mall around here, to Nieman Marcus the day after Christmas. Those well-dressed, perfect-hair-and-make-up types were literally shoving and grabbing! You could get HURT at the wrapping paper or ornament tables, If only there had been camera phones then........ 8O

I think I'm gonna try this chatroom thing.
I think internet shopping beats the crowds. Amazon has better deals anyway.

It was only the Fry's Electronics store in (the) City of Industry, and most of the discounted items were gone. I have a dislike for shopping because I get into an overly frugal mindset (sometimes unreasonable, as $5 to avoid an hour of waiting is reasonable at minimum wage) and generally have to be dragged by my mother and younger sister. At least that gives me a good excuse not to go to any kind of mall today...

Dear Artrat, You are so right. Amazon, Overstock.com, and eBay take good care of their of their customers. If you have friends/family who have Apple products, they just LOVE iTunes gift certificates!
Dear Kevin, When your mother and sister get home from their shopping today with their tales of aggression and bad manners, will you be smug about staying home?
