Sometimes it's rather like talking to a wall...or shouting in an empty room. Oh, well. Silence speaks, but only those who are ready to listen can hear it.

if words are like seeds, can they all be expected to grow if thrown without restraint to high winds? even for those that grow, a sprout may take it’s time, but a seed isn't dead no matter how far it is from being a tree. words rarely ever hit anyone of another perception with an instant and identical epiphany as hopeful the person wording them.

The old courthouse with a clock tower. The old lighthouse. The old library. The big old gothic cemetery at the end of town. The seashore. The river. The big abandoned haunted looking house. The reportedly haunted hilltop mansion. The hidden reportedly haunted little private cemetery at the far end of the deep woods. Several odd/eccentric/unique townsfolk. The water tower. The old trestle bridge. Where I live has got it all. Now if I can just come up with a story to go with it all.

^^EzraS, I remember that you're a strong descriptive writer. :) It's cool that you can see all that stuff in your head and make associations that bring up even more pictures.

I'm curious about everything, especially while I'm talking to someone.

Someone on another forum has send me a friend request and while I'm flattered by this I'm uncertain about what to do now - they actually seem nice but we do not know each other well, if at all and they may expect too much from me, things I cannot comply with.

But if I do not reply I might end up being seen as rude; I feel like I'm caught in a bear trap and the one who has placed it is the only one who can help me.

Any advice?

I wonder who's going to be stupid enough to try to get me to join into the women's group at the clubhouse today.

Static World: You could just send a short message back. It doesn't have to be fancy or anything. If the person does expect too much of you, you could always tell them that it's too much [politely, of course].

I can't help but feel that I should be helping out at the crisis pregnancy center, making baby hat key chains.

^Do you feel pressured to do that? More importantly, do you want to do that? If not, your feelings are perfectly natural, so feeling guilty about it is a waste of energy. [To be honest, I wouldn't want to go there, either.]

Thank you very much for your reply. (-:
Though I'm not sure about what to write since I have never done that before. What would be the best way to start a messageof that kind?

You're welcome! [I recently made a new friend on another forum, and we've been chatting back and forth.]
Maybe something like 'Hi, nice to hear from you. Maybe we have some things in common. I like X, do you like Y?'
