So what is the best position to sleep in which is best for your back? To sleep flat, on one side or the other, or even stomach?

The best sleeping position for your back is on your side, with your knees bent slightly towards you and even a cushion in between your legs if you're experiencing back pain.

The worst position for your back is lying on your stomach because it puts a lot of pressure on your lower spine, as does lying on your back, but I don't think it's as severe.

Sleeping on your side is also best for your digestion and minimises snoring, so it's good all round really.

That's how I sleep! :3 With the pillow, too. I think it's good for your hips as well. And sure enough, I have never had back problems. (Except for that one time I had a really terrible mattress.)

Also good for your back: walking barefoot more often. It's because with shoes, we land on the heel harder than we're supposed to because it's cushioned, but it still sends a sort of jolt all the way up. We're meant to land mostly on the ball of the foot which reduces the impact a lot better, and that's much easier to do with bare feet.

It's comfortable, but I does look a little lame

I sleep either sideways with my head sticking over one end of the bed and my legs over the other, face down, or dead straight in a "dracula" pose

Hmm
I sleep twisted:p

lower body is in the 'on your side' position.
upper body is in the 'on your back' position.

Otherwise it's on my stomach,
head turned to one side, legs/feet turned to the opposite side.

No wonder my shoulders aren't even

I'd go crazy having a pillow stuffed between my legs though. I got goosebumps just thinking about it>_<

Seeing as everyone's sharing their sleeping positions, I might as well join in.

I sleep on my right side, always have done, always will do.
I sleep with my knees folded up towards my chest, but not too close.
I stretch my lower legs diagonally across my bed.
I have my right arm under my pillow.
I have my left arm hugging a pillow to my torso.

Me too, except sometimes I switch to my left side, if my right arm starts to hurt from being in a bad position :)

I usually sleep on my stomach because it lets me put my legs up (bend knees so that my feet are in the air) if my shins are bugging me...

That's interesting, because I usually, sleep that way naturally. That's also considering I am right handed, but I generally sleep on my left side....
Thanks anyways.

I do this as well, but instead of a pillow i just hold the duvet to my stomach.
However when i am stessed or just find it hard to sleep, i switch to laying on my left side.

... wait, what? XD; I just said that was BETTER, that's how you're supposed to walk. It's because of shoes that most people don't.
