How many of you like cars by default and find the throaty exhaust note of a Lamborghini or a Ferrari one of the greatest sounds known to mankind? I can safely claim that I have liked cars before I have liked anything except my parents.

On this thread you can discuss what cars you like, what cars you've sat in and anything else that has to do with them.

My favourite car is the Mercedes Benz SL65 AMG, and I have been lucky enough to have sat in one. The Pagani Zonda F and the Mercedes McLaren SLR come a close second. I favour Lamborghinis over Ferraris and absolutely adore the Murcielago Barchetta.

I've been a car nut most of my life.
I've fallen out of it though gotten into motorcycles.

My favorite car is the 1995-98 Porsche 993. Last generation of the air-cooled flat-6 911.
I love the spartan interior that hadn't change much in 30 years. I love the tradition and whole..."screw you! we're not gonna change!"
attitiude of the car. Fantastic engine sound....probably my favorite next to a Ferarri V12.

I've spent a fair amount of time behind the wheel of 993. It's an intersting and enjoyable experience. I like to get one of my own some day.
Also driven an 03 Aston Martin DB7 vantage volante a few times. Nice, but not worth the money....horrible ergonimics and just plain uncomfortable. Great V12 engine and turns allot of heads.

One of the cars I've owned include a 95 VW GTi VR6. When I sold it I had and AMS supercharger, waterinjection and schrick 268 cams and lots of suspension and styling modifications. On a good day the car would put out close to 300 hp.

Also had an 89 Mercedes-Benz 420SEL which I bought cheap off my parents in 2001. Did many styling madifications to it.
It was such a great car! comfortable, nice v8, it could quitely cruise around town but then roar to life when you wanted it to....kind of a dual personality. Solid,... my god this thing was such a tank. You felt inpenatrable in it. No one makes a car like that anymore, ...not even M-B. It's the only car I liked more as I spent more time with it. But I needed some money and sold it.

I currently drive a VW jetta wagon TDi. Been into VW's for about 10 years now.
Really liking the new Audi's too. I'd like to get the S6 avant....but naturally, it's not available in the US.
I'm also liking the way Ford & GM are bringing back the Mustang & Camero. Really liked the new Camero concept.....lets hope GM doesn't drop the ball. I just might get one if they do it right.

I'm more of an American muscle car guy, particularly with modified suspensions ala NASCAR road race setup, although in light of $3 a gallon gas I'm learning the pleasures of rice-burners.

Cars (of intrest, I'll omit the family trucksters) I've owned, driven, or rode in:
1976 Pontiac Firebird Formula 400- my first car, many adventures at 130mph+
1966 Buick Wildcat convertible, 425cid, dual 4bbl, switchpitch torque converter- roommate's car.
1968 Mustang GT- not up on my Mustangs, had a 390.
1970 Olds 442- friends car in High school
1968 Camaro SS convertible- another friend in high school, had a 350hp 327 and 4speed, raced him a lot with the Firebird
1985 Daytona Turbo Z- this one spanked the above Camaro
1988 Daytona Shelby- homemade boost controller giving 15lbs of boost, 1.02g suspension, reach an rpm limited 150mph
1990 Cougar XR7-3.8l supercharged v6, 5speed manual, weighed 4000lbs and would spin the tires from a 10mph roll
1985 Monte Carlo SS- old faithful, it would take whatever I dished out, never failed me
1988 Monte Carlo SS- wrecked it then repaired with 375hp 305cid. Went through more transmissions than tires. Guy I sold it to put a non-overdrive trans in it and ran 12.9 quarter mile.
1999 Tahoe 4x4- great truck until 80k miles. then more trans trouble.
2002 Honda Accord- 2.4Vtec, 5speed. Can you tell I have a kid now?
2006 Matrix XRS- 175hp 1.8L, 6speed, 8200 rpm redline. Can you tell I'm still a kid at heart?
Probably more that I can't recall (parent's ride, valet job, etc.)

I'm a gal that gets super-excited at the sight of a vintage muscle car in excellent condition, especially at the sound of those engines. OMG.

I live close to a drag strip and am very happy to sit and watch cars and bikes drag all night long. If I had more money than I knew what to do with the first thing I'd do is buy an already restored 68 or 69 Chevy Camaro (no convertible). Midnight blue with pearly white trim. Spare interior, meant for racing with 4 point harness, etc.

PS I don't know s**t about cars I just know I feel very passionately about the muscle cars

I was crazy about cars as a kid. Still am, but my skills are rusty--can't hardly tell a '65 from a '66 Mustang anymore.

All time favorites classics include the 1938 Cord, the 1948 Tucker (I think I saw one on the road last night), 1965 Mustang, 1955 T-Bird 2-door, 1953 Corvette.

Current style faves: not many--most cars seem to look alike these days. I do like the Honda Insight 2-door hybrid; it's stylish and fuel-efficient.

Far as I'm concerned, all SUVs are dinosaurs and should go extinct already.

That's a lot like my friend's car. His was a 327 instead of a 396 like in the photo, so it had a stripe that went around the nose instead of the hockey-stick style. Sadly, his dad forgot to set the parking brake on day and it rolled down the hill and hit a tree. For the most part the car survived but the hood was a total loss and they were unable to locate a replacement so it now has the z-28 style hood with a cowl induction hood. Not nearly as nifty as the one with the louvers.

A couple of additions I thought of:
1970 Challenger R/T- modified 383 Magnum, auto trans. For a couple of days I thought it was lame because it wouldn't do a burnout. I twould just kind of chirp then accelerate moderately fast. Then I discovered that it was actually spinning them so fast that it was immediatly going into 2nd. After I had owned it a couple of weeks, I tried holding it in 1st. Awsome burnout, then it started fishtailing violently, I lost control, hit a telephone pole. End of Challenger and nearly end of me.

1956 Thunderbird- my Uncle's car. Very speedy, but a poor restoration meant it would shift on the frame and the tires would rub when cornering hard.

I saw a Maybach on the freeway yesterday. Its hard for me to comprehend a car that costs more than twice as much as my house. I'm sure the owner would be disappointed to know that I thought it was a new Accord ontil we got close enough to see the trunk emblem

I'm sure I won't be seeing a Maybach for a while, where I live. I went and looked at it on the web - it sure doesn't look like much from the exterior. How much are they?

BTW, my fiance and I bought a 64 Tbird on Ebay for just under 2grand. It was a really fun car to drive around, got lots of attention. Sold it for a small profit when we moved to Hawaii. It already had rust issues so we didn't want to bring it to the land of constant humidity.

I think they can go up to $300,000 depending on the options....not sure

I want some car thats definately faster than my current one. The car I have at the moment is a 1995 toyota corrolla sedan 1500 cc injected. I want to get a car in the future that will run at least a high 15 second quarter mile pass. Dreams are free I guess.

I love those cars.. 315 lb-ft of torque @ 2400 rpm is nice. I rode in an '89 5-spd XR7 once, it was fun.

The cars I've owned:

- 1993 Mercury Cougar. 140hp 3.8 V6. Nice car, but slow. I sold it shortly after it blew a head gasket.

- 1988 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. That was a really cool car, especially after I installed an aftermarket boost controller.

- 1993 Lincoln Mark VIII. It had INCREDIBLE top-end power. It was pretty much impossible to spin the tires off the line without brake-torquing, but it'd break 'em loose from a 35 mph roll. Or 70 if the road is wet.. That was rather scary.

- 1999 Ford Contour SE Sport, V6 5-speed. It's not all that fast, but it's incredibly fun to drive. It is by far the best-handling car I've ever owned, which was a surprise to me as I've always preferred rear-wheel drive cars.

I like the Classy appearence of the Hackney Carrage. More widely known as the London Taxi. I also like the PT Cruiser.

The Rolls Royce Phantom may have more presence than the Maybach, but after seeing the interior of the Maybach up close, there's no comparison...the Maybach's rear passenger compartment is unparalleled.

I was wondering if any of you know the Cizeta Moroder V16t. I don't know why but I find the Mercedes McLaren SLR the best looking car for a long time. Even if it isn't fast as the Ferrari Enzo or anything. One thing I can truly be grateful for is living near Dubai, which has the second most sightings of exotic cars after Monaco.

If anyone of you's thinking of coming to Dubai for a visit, do let me know.
