thought i had swine flu, but yestoday realised it was lyme disease, being about 2 weeks since i was bitten by a tick. great.

ive been very ill with it- anyone have any advice on recovery?

i know its more common in the US than the UK, and can be quite serious; i have to see my Gp tomorrow, who will give me some anti biotics, which i dislike taking anyway....

ive had all the muscular pains, back pain, face/tooth ache, exhaustion, etc as well as the flu like symptoms. and depression and bad temper. and night fever. and looking really ill.

id really value some personal advice, as im having trouble wading through the general stuff online, as i can t focus...

i havent even lost any weight!

Well, I did not have Lyme disease myself, but I know someone who had. She got problems with some small muscles, causing her face to 'hang' on one half. So it is really important that you take the prescribed medicines and finish it properly (take them all!).

Monitor your symptoms closely, when they get worse contact your GP.

Do you have the bulls-eye (is that phrase used in UK?) shaped red rash at the bite site? If you do, it is lyme and it can be VERY VERY serious. Go to a doctor as soon as possible. If you don't have the concentric circles on the skin near the bite then it is probably not lyme.

Go to a doctor. It is very treatable, but can get very serious without treatment, even deadly.

Yeah, we call it that here too... I think... I read an article in one of my many magazines about Lyme disease. It just says that make sure you take any medicine your doctor prescribes and if you start to experience any neurological symptoms such as tingling, loss of feeling down one side, hallucinations etc. to go straight to hospital. Hopefully if you look after yourself though you'll be just fine! Get well soon :)
