Do you tuck your shirt in your pants?

I've recently been tucking my shirt in my pants to give me a more formal look. I'm creating a new image for myself. I've purchased many new articles of clothing which differ greatly in style from the clothes I wore in the past.

Depends on the pants. Right now I'm wearing knee length shorts and my shirt is outside my pants, if I stick a pair of Levi's on then the shirt is inside the waistband.

I used to, until the other students at school told me I looked dorky and to stop. I don't see why it's a problem, but I stopped doing it.

I think people's views on it differ. Many young people find it too formal so they say it's dorky, but older people do it to look neat and put together. Also some people say to tuck it in with a belt on is fashionable, others say it looks Eighties and bad.

I have also been told that is more acceptable to tuck your shirt in if you are wearing a jacket over it. :? Dunno why, I responded to the person that told me that by wickedly trying to tuck my jacket in.

I used to, but now that I'm starting to develop a bit of a tummy, I try not to.

It just makes it more obvious that I'm getting podgy :(

Yes, I find that shirts hanging out are more flattering on anyone regardless of size. :( It's one of those things

None of the above, so I didna vote. For formal occasions, I always tuck it in. For all other times, there's no conscious "rule" that I follow. I don't mind how a well-fitting shirt looks, tucked in on me. When I go skating for fitness, I usually make sure that the shirt is un-tucked, for ventilation. If I'm only skating for short-distance transportation, especially if the air temperature isn't high, I don't mind keeping it tucked.

My opinion is the opposite of Activebutodd's: tucked-in shirts look more flattering on me, as long as they fit me well. If it's soh wide that it billows out from the waistline, it feels messy to me - all the more reason to make sure my clothes fit me well.

I tuck my shirt in on special occasions, and when the pants that I am wearing are a bit loose, like when I can't find my belt

Only on special occasions where it warrants it.

For me, it depends on the shirt. I never tuck in T-shirts or other pullovers, but will tuck in a sport shirt if I'm going somewhere I care about my appearance.

Yes, but only my pyjamas. Especially when I am about to go to bed.

I near enough always wear t-shirts with jeans, generally I tuck my t-shirt in so it looks tidy

This is me age 8 in 1952... as you can see, I wore it tucked in as a kid; my father would get after me if it wasn't

As long as we are alive on this Earth,
can our shirts be outside our pants.
But when the Death comes fetching us,
then the shirt is idle enough to be inside the pants.

That was a feeble attempt to translate a poem, that my father used to quote:

"Niin kauan kuin kestää elomme täällä,
saa paitakin olla housujen päällä.
Vaan kun kuolema meidät noutaa,
silloin jo paitakin housuihin joutaa."

I never do. I like wearing baggy pants and long shirts not tucked in.
