This is not meant to be serious, and is not an actual suggestion, so it has no need to be considered as one.

With that caveat out of the way... whenever I visit PPR I usually see lots of opinions, insults, and arguments flying around like Superman after overdosing on caffeine.

I'm thinking PPR should be renamed something like: Lovely Minefield Of Super-Opinionated Passionate Hatred

What do you think it should be called?

Here are a few options:

PPR

P.P.

Lovely Minefield Of Super-Opinionated Passionate Hatred

SNAFU

WTF

I've Had Enough Of This

I Feel Tired Every Time I Read This Subforum

or write your own if you'd like.

Something tells me the actual forum would be a better place for this thread.

Anyway, what's wrong with a little debate?

Nothing's wrong with a little debate, just so long as it doesn't go thermonuclear.

politics and religion generally exist to cause arguements and disagreements between people.

Yes... that's the point, in politics at least. For real progress, one has to debate and disagree with others.

All in the names topic

Politics and philosophy I can debate, but religion debates are futile and silly. People do not like faith of any sort debated. I personally do not care to what religion a person professes. This is why I usually do not respond to religious threads.

Discussion of politics and philosophy might work. Up for debate!!

The thing about debates of religion is that more people respond than just those who have the same beliefs. I'm referring particularly to the people who respond in a manner like

"you people are so stupid, can't you see that your beliefs are bullcrap and mine are true. All these people back me up and these other people teach this, I'm right and your so wrong that you don't have a brain."

For discussing theological topics, that can get really annoying.

I suppose it's just the ones that are super disrespectful that make it a minefield.

Talking with people of other faiths about their or my views is fine, but not when all they do is bash.

Me too!

I find the religious debates rather silly.

I really have no strong opinions against religion or lack thereof. They're bound to get scrutiny by both sides and it's often not a case of logic but rather belief vs unbelief....or at least that's what it looks to me.

Anyway, I think I'd call it something close to Hell Fire and Brimstone.... :P
