I've seen this be done on sports forums where people select their favourite players from a list and form a list that way, so we'll use this method. This method is fun because you vote from a list and then select who you want on the next list.

I started a similar one on SFFChronicles but wanted to see if the results would be vastly different here than there.

Procedure:

1) Vote in the poll from the list.
2) Post in the thread to tell which mythological figure you would like added.
3) Come again next week when the next poll is up.

Disclaimer:

Some entries in the polls are controversial because they are worshiped presently by major religions. It is not my intention to offend, but rather be inclusive of all faiths and backgrounds. If you are offended by the inclusion of those entered in the poll, please make a selection by which the stories and teachings are most powerful, because all mythological creatures were created to teach us all a lesson. Alternatively, you don't have to participate.

To the moderators, if you feel this thread is better served by being put somewhere else, feel free to move it.

The list of initial entrants:

Amaterasu (Japanese)
Anu (Mesopotamian)
Jupiter (Roman)
Osiris (Egyptian)
Quetzalcoatl (Nahuatl)
Thor (Norse)
Viracocha (Incan)
Vishnu (Hindu)
Yahweh (Hebrew)
Zeus (Greek)

I voted for Osiris, God of the Underworld.

The list needs more monster-type characters... how about the Hydra?

Thor, because he is the god of the people, and a slayer of Giants to boot. He's like, the most socialistic god in the poll. A real Vanguard!

Also, he's not above being a cross-dresser (he dressed as a woman in one story, er I mean historical event) clearly showing how progressive his ideals are. :D

Sorry.

L'Ankou is not a god actually.

... But since the spaghettis have the right to be here, I leave my picture as well!

L'Ankou is admissable in this poll. This thread is open to all mythological specimens, gods, monsters, creatures and spirits.

How about a little separation of the church and the state.

I'm thinking Flying Spaghetti Monster might be in the next poll due to it having the most mentions in this thread, unless we get some more votes and suggestions.

One more vote for him.

Missing one of the most important event of his life which is sacrificing one of his eye to have right to drink from the well of infinite wisdom.
