I love ribs, sweet potato (that are wrapped with tin foil and cooked on the BBQ), and grilled veggies for my BBQ.

I like sausage links and brisket. There's a place in Fredericksburg, Texas that makes BBQ sauce with pecan flavoring.

I also like Korean-style BBQ (bulgogi).

I'm not exactly an aficionado, but I do love me some BBQ. I haven't had many types that I haven't liked, but I couldn't tell you which types I've had vs. haven't.

I'm not sure the name/style, but my favorite was some I had in Alabama once. It was so soft it would just fall off the bone when you touched it with the fork, and was saturated with sauce. Anybody know what style of BBQ that is?

I guess I generally like BBQ, though not an affectionado(sp?). There's a Texas style place near where I live with great hot links and ribs. It's a smoky little shack with some cheap tables and chairs and the vat they put the meat sort of right in front of you. When you open the door there's a visible smoke layer at about waist height. (--Which smells great but hurts my lungs after after about 20 minutes.)

I'm really not all that experianced. Where I live you just dont find any good BBQ places, but i've been to Texas and had some good stuff so will vote that.

But I also know the different area's BBQ really doesnt have much to do with what they cook, but what they cook with. I think it's something like Texas BBQ is done with sauces, Kansas City is dry rubs, Carolina's is with vinegar based sauces, something like that. If you go to Texas it's beef ribs, St. Louis is known for pork baby back.

I dont know if those are accurate, just repeating Food Network shows i've seen in the past =P.


I just dont have the time to barbacue, one weekend when I have 20+ hours i'd like to try some real barbacue. But that is also on a list of 100 other culinary things i'd like to try one day but probably never will.

Otherwise I grill all the time. And lately I do love trying out rubs. The gormet cooking stores always have some good flavors to try (just had some chicken yesterday with this Chipotle Pepper rub that was crazy good) and I've come up with a few really good ones on my own.

Always use mesquite and never clean the BBQ, just let it burn off.

I love BBQ, but don't get the opportunity to eat it very often, so I wouldn't be able to say what my favorite style is.

I'd love to try a mustard based BBQ sometime, mustard is probably my favorite condiment ever..

I do not do barbecue that often but when I eat those big shrimps I always put them on my electrical bbq.... indoors. Really hot (prae) and two minutes a side. Awesome.... it's one of my favourite foods.

Also good quality sausages I like, lambs rack (?) also and I tend to go with garlic sauce a lot.

Mmmm, soon I'm going to use my bbq again, I think.

Actually, Carolina has a couple of different styles. West Carolina focuses more on traditional, tomato based BBQ sauces where as eastern Carolina style uses more vinegar based sauces.

For me, I have my own secret dry rub mix that I put on meat, cook it over indirect heat and then depending on the meat, I'll brush some kind of sauce on it.

I prefer pulled pork, though I have absolutely no problems at all eating brisket and ribs, with all of the carolina style sauces from the Western NC Red sauce to Eastern NC vinegar/pepper to my favorite, The mustard based sauce used in South Carolina. Also FWIW, BBQ has to be cooked over hardwood coals, anything else is just a roast.
