and do not like to drive. I am the total opposite, I love to drive. I never could ride a bicycle, but I took to driving well for some strange reason. Anyone else like this?

I hate driving because I suck at directions, and I get confused easily. I can't imagine ever driving on my own :? .

I suspect I'd like driving but I doubt I'd be safe on the road.

I LOVE my car.

Traded in my Toyota Corolla for a Convertible (have a bit of sensory seeking to my Sensory problems) and LOVE driving around with the top down and the wind a blowin'.

Also in the middle of restoring (to better than original) a 1948 Pontiac Silver streak (4 door.) Just image search 'Pontiac 48'

I don't mind driving on long country roads where I don't have any traffic to worry about, and don't need to keep as strict an eye on the speedometer.

But those chances are very rare, and eventually I'll have to return to the land of stop lights, road signs, pedestrians, etc. :x

I drive but I can't afford a new car. Maybe a used one that costs several thousand dollars but it might be junk. The car I have now is all I have. When it's in the shop, I have no car. I just walk home if I have to take it in. The shop isn't far from where I live. Or I can take the bus if I don't want to walk that far.

I can drive, and I find it's a good way of getting around when you need to, or when you're in an area with poor public transport.
But there's little point to me running a car here in London, which wouldn't be cost-effective... and, frankly, I don't think I could cope with the complexity of some of the roads, and the number of "aggressive" drivers and the amount of really heavy traffic.

I drive the most utalitarian and versatile vehicle ever made: Jeep Wrangler.

I lived without a car until I was about 30.

Me and driving have a love-hate relationship.

I LOVE driving on empty rural roads and highways! One time I took a roadtrip all the way around Olympic Peninsula in WA state, in February. It seemed as if I were the only one on US101.

I HATE other cars and other drivers and traffic and red lights and stop signs and emergency vehicles and police and everything else. I acnowledge that they have as much right to the road as I do, so I do the only thing I can. Leave the Jeep parked and walk or take a bus whenever I can.

There's another reason. I'm a very good driver when it comes to handling the vehicle. But I lack the attention to drive safely in heavy traffic. I sometimes daydream and sing along and do just about everything else other than pay attention to the road. And then there are days when I'm attentive. It comes and goes.

I own a car and I'm a pretty good driver, but I find the level of concentration I have to apply to it to be a little stressful. When I have to divert that concentration to figure out where I'm going if it's an unfamiliar trip, watching for road signs, reading directions, etc... Or even worse, if I'm not sure what's coming up next at all, that moves up to very stressful. I'm somewhat nervous about driving due to this reason. I'm quite comfortable if I've driven the route before and know exactly what's going on, when to turn, when to change lanes, etc, however on the off chance that I get lost I start to panic and get pretty close to having a meltdown, and would probably be at risk for getting into a crash.

My guess is that most of you have a somewhat similar experience. It's basically a high-stakes version of a very common aspie trait, enjoying familiarity and routine while being uncomfortable and perhaps even nonfunctional with change or an unfamiliar environment. The fact that it's in a vehicle where you have to abide by all sorts of rules and be very vigilant and where mistakes have much graver consequences amplifies this to an unspeakable level.

What kind of convertible? I just got a '91 Camaro RS this summer. I love driving with the top down, and I find it makes me feel safer (even though convertibles are lacking in some safety areas) as I can see all around me with no obstructions. However, as this is my only car, I'll have to be incredibly careful driving it in winter and I'll only take it out when necessary. I've only driven during one winter, and that was with a front-wheel drive car. This is going to be different. I'll have to find a huge, empty parking lot to squirrel around in to get the hang of it! :D

Anyway, I didn't get my license until last summer. I still get very nervous driving with a lot of people around, but I feel comfortable with it when there aren't many other cars on the road.

Plus I have a flat metal skull from a broken key chain that I taped to the top of the front wheel well :)

I drive a car, but I don't love to do so. It is a necessity in the U.S. where mass transport is not always available or feasible. On the other hand I love riding my bike.
