I am considering trying a polyphasic sleep schedule (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyphasic ... ke-time.27) so I will have more time to do all my homework. But most of the schedules won't work because I need to have about 8 hours of "awake time" for when I'm at school (some people have solved this by sleeping at school at lunchtime. Completely out of the question - I sleep in my own bed or not at all).

Is there any way I could make this work? :?

I tried doing this in college and quickly adjusted with the aid of moderate doses of caffeine every time upon waking up from the naps. It also helps to have a "core" phase of sleep that's a multiple of 90 minutes. Start with a core of 6 hours and 1 nap.. then for every 90 minutes you reduce from your core, add 1 more nap.

I survived on 3-4 hours of sleep every for about 1.5 years until at one point, my body refused to cooperate and insisted on 5+ hours of sleep every night and that's when i gave up..

I have experimented with different sleeping patterns, including polyphasic. It requires dicipline, and not worth the reward of some extra time, at the expence of needing to fall asleep regularly throughout the day (like right through class).

It would be easier to practice some time management.
