aging brass zippo case

I have a brass zippo that I'd like to make look aged or worn without the scratches.

Anyone know how I can do it? I think there are techniques that involve heat and other stuff.

Remove the lighter from the case, and bury the case outside for a month or two. FWIW, a lot of drummers do this with their cymbals because the patina caused by oxidation changes the overtones the cymbals generate when struck.
