Do you often think about funny things and laugh out loud while you're alone? It seems kind of normal to do that but I have not seen anyone laughing while I enter an area and they were alone before I entered in.

Once I was washing the dishes and I was thinking of something funny when my housemate walked into the kitchen...I think he saw me laugh but I don't know if he thought I acted weird or something

I do that all the time! It's rather irritating at times, because people always think I'm hiding something, and I don't want to explain the real reason I'm laughing or smirking, because then they will want to know what my funny memory or thought was, and I don't feel like sharing my private thoughts with others. :silent:

I do this sometimes, and it can be irritating because I then find it rather difficult to control my fits of laughter. I was once in McDonalds by myself, and it took me a while to eat my burger because I kept giggling over something I had thought about. Other people saw me and I think they thought I was a mad giggling freak or something. It's times like this when it's really annoying. However, if I'm at home, I don't really care because it brightens my day.

I think about funny stuff and laugh out loud anywhere. Even in public. I smile a lot, too.

Yeah, me too. Everywhere I go, I'm laughing about something stupid randomly. I hide it the best way I can from people and I haven't really got noticed of it.

Oh, I often do this. I think that it's because I spend a significant chunk of my "alone time" lost in my own thoughts, particularly when I'm just walking somewhere, or engaged in some other mundane task. Frequently, my thoughts are completely unrelated to my surroundings, and it's not unusual for me to hit upon something funny. When this happens, I sometimes can't resist the urge to laugh, or at least smile.
I also tend to perseverate on things that I find particularly funny. A couple of weeks ago, my boyfriend S and I were playing Mad Libs on Skype (S is presently on the other side of the country from me). S made a joke relating to a word he had come up with, and his remark struck me as hilarious. After our Skype conversation had concluded, I continued perseverating on his remark, and intermittently laughing to myself for the remainder of the evening. A few days later, S and I were playing Mad Libs again, and S said something relating to his previous funny remark. This prompted me to repeat his joke back to him, pretty much word for word. S was amazed by my level of accuracy in remembering the details of his joke, and said, "Wow, you have a very good memory." Ha! I remembered his joke because I'd been perseverating on it. I still can never remember where I put my keys, or my laundry card, or my credit card. That's probably because, when I put those things away, I'm usually thinking about something completely unrelated to what I'm doing. In some cases, that unrelated something is something funny, something that may render me unable to resist smiling or laughing to myself.

I think about funny stuff and laugh about it, no matter where I am.

Mmm, hidden laughter of the mind. Not so hidden for some of us I see. I do this quite often and the looks from workmates are rather funny in and of themselves, which just keeps me going. The really funny part though depends on how I laugh. If I'm truly amused then it's just normal laughter, but if I'm daydreaming and hit upon something a little awkward, I have a maniacal sounding cackle. I try to keep that one to myself, but did it at work the other day. The looks and conversations I overheard were rather... amusing and somewhat alarming at the same time. Apparently throwing one's head back with a high pitched cackle freaks out people. Which of course made me want to do it again, and not do it again at the same time.

I do this all the time. Sometimes however, I have to keep myself from laughing, as what I'm about is TOO funny. For me, anyway. I tell anyone else what's on my mind, they're like 'huh?'. And once I start, I can't stop.

So I've found. Of course, when I'm in that mood it just makes me laugh harder. Vicious cycle, but a fun one, assuming it doesn't get me put in a straightjacket.
