I've deleted about 5 times what my post count is for fear of sounding stupid and being paranoid. But I promised myself I will submit this.

I sopose I should add something on here. Depression seems to be a pretty popular topic tonight so here goes something :?. Prior to being diagnosed with AS I was diagnosed first with ADHD and then Chronic Depression. Both I was medicated for and both I ended up pretending to take my medicine to satisfy my parents and doctors. I was recently told I should think about taking another medication for AS (recently diagnosed)..I dont want to do it. Does anyone else take meds? And if you do, are you forced to? Do you think they help?

i use to take meds but they felt weird going down. I haven't taken my meds in months and I feel better than i did on them. This may not be the same for everyone, i was told that different peoples bodies handle drugs differently.

Any post is a good post.

The more you post the better you get :)

Your post doesn't have to be perfect. You can even edit later if you really want to.

Most of us will know that your post is only valid for right now while you are writing and you have the right to feel differently in an hour or a second or a year.

I haven't seen anyone called stupid in here. "Megalomaniac" sometimes, but not stupid. We're supposed to be supportive not abusive I think.

I get depressed a lot for months at a time, feel useless and all that. However I know it will always go away eventually, so I tolerate it. For me - it's not life threatening.

I've never taken meds for depression or anxiety or stress or anything related to aspergers. I've looked up the descriptions for aropax and zoloft, and ritalin, and they're scary. The potential side effects seem much worse than anything I go through.

I am very fond of coffee, and dark chocolate. And I like to savour the occasional glass of red wine, and play guess how many flavours are in it.

Mr_ Taylor, you dont sound stupid and paranoid at all OK  .
The questions you should ask yourself are: if you do take medication do the meds make any difference to how you feel?. How do you feel when you are not taking them?, happy?, sad? anxious?.
Do your parents and doctors want you to take a drug that they claim will specifically help AS?
As far as I know there is no chemical abnormality in the brain of an AS person so I dont think any sort of medication that purports to help with AS should be relied upon.
If you feel a little depressed then perhaps a mild anti-depressant for you to take will be enough to keep your parents and doctor happy. You should not be forced to take any medication IMO.

Thanks gals, and or guys. I sopose what the doctors were talking about is some type of drug to keep me calmed, yes. I've taken drugs that are related to the ones their talking about and they dont make me feel right. I can't describe it but if you've ever been forced to take medicine and didnt like it, thats the only real way you can understand it. So it really bugs me when my parents and doctors say to just keep taking it and it will get better, or to seek another drug that would help. I'd like to think im much better to be around without them, but my parents say different. The mind is subjective, I think thats the explanation for my "better to be around mood".
