I have had an account on FB for about a year now. I don't belong to any of the autism/asperger's groups because I don't want most people there to know I'm on the spectrum.
I have a number of freinds , but am in contact regularly with one and semi reguarly 3 more.
One thing I don't like about facebook is that the site has a lot of problems which can be very irratating!!

Big Brother is watching you on facebook? What else is new? Who cares? I really mean that. Just accept that you're being watched and do your thing.

I am also on Facebook, but my profile page can only be seen by those I am friends with or by those within my networks. If someone is not within either of my networks or they are not friends with me, I can be extremely difficult to find. There are some people on there who have profiles that are readily viewable and accessible, something of which I would never do as I would then feel vulnerable. I honestly don't know how these people can be ok with that. I was originally co-erced by a friend to join Facebook. I was going to de-activate or even delete my account a couple of months ago, but then family convinced me not to as I am, apparently, 'difficult to get hold of enough as it is'.

You don't have to join autistic/aspergers groups on facebook, however you can PRETEND that your just a regular NT on facebook if it makes you feel any better about your identity?

Normally I don't show or want anybody to know that im on the specrum on facebook, however, I do have a facebook which I had a while now and so far, i've been through the ups and the downs of it.

However I don't personally myself like going on facebook, I was also going to close down my facebok like "Fiz" did, but then I just suddenly decided not to as i have a couple of friends that i chat to that i haven't seen for a long time :)

I'm not a massive fan. You either fake your life, or become completely transparent. So either it's difficult or you lose your privacy.

What browser are you using it with?
I joined Facebook month before last and was using internet explorer with no end of troubles.
Wife suggested I use Firefox instead.
No more problems unless system gets short on bandwidth when all the school kids get home or stuff like that.

Is a notice yesterday or so from Zuckerman that some changes and "improvements" are going to be made because of volume of usage.

Expect glitches no matter what browser you use.

One Facebook account is for friends who live far away and select family. The other is where I come out of the aspie closet under a pseudonym.

And never the twain shall meet.

The same goes for my Twitter accounts.

Or... you just post those things from your life that you want people to know, and if people think you have no life or a boring life, screw them.

As I heard, you could set your privacy level to the most secure level where nobody would be able to see your facebook profile so that the other people can't add you and you have to be the only one to add them.... I have done that previously in the past because of the argument me and my neighbour had on facebook but then it decided to restore the settings back to default when i joined the college network.... I haven't been bothered to change it back

I have my account set as viewable by networks and friends too. As to your question, there are so many ways you can be harmed or get killed in your life some people don't really care about this privacy stuff. Also keep in mind that people who are not your friends but are in your network can view your profile too and you don't know many of these people so i guess its just as dangerous. Not that I am trying to scare you or anything...

I have both a Facebook and a Myspace page, but I'm more active on Facebook. I'm a member of about thirty groups but not one of them concerns AS/Autism.

My Facebook page is private, since I have some things on my page that I definitely would not want any of my relatives to see. My page is not inappropriate, there are just some things I reveal about myself on my page that I wouldn't want my family to know about.
