Hello Christmas at the time of writing is tomorrow. This year it is just me and mum for Christmas. I often find that in this situation it tends to get stale and I want to go back to my normle routine. However when this happens she stops me "because its Christmas" . Does anyone of you have this problem? How do you deal with it?

Christmas is in the heart.

Your mum wants your company for Christmas. She wants to share a day with you and make a memory or two. Consider it your Christmas present to her and actually join in with a bit of humor and a yes, even a hint or two of love and gratitude. :D

You will find a little goes a long way, and you can make her day brighter. You have your comforting routine to get back to later, of course. But actually put yourself out a little and give a bit of yourself. For domestic tranquility. :D

Yes. Often enough my routine is destroyed by Christmas - I am in High School, and I hate Christmas break cutting into the time that I would normally spend sitting in a hallway corner by myself.

Ever since Christmas stopped being "magical" for me, and especially with how much of a downer it became during my adolescence, I don't mind it, but I'd just as soon not bother with it.

I don't do much by way of celebration of the changing of the seasons, and usually celebrate what ever with whomever I am around. If anything I just keep it short, and not drag it out for weeks.

Life is magical for me.

I came so close to death that I was pronounced dead. I'm very happy they were wrong.

I don't like nor hate Christmas. Christmas for me is a whole lot of people scattered throughout the house having their various group conversations which I don't want or even know how to enter. Not to mention the whole thing of giving gifts and receiving them. Blurgh. Hiding in my room has been the best idea so far.

Christmas just gets more idiotic every year. It has become so commercialized. corporatized and Walmartized that it just isn't even mildly enjoyable anymore.

It only comes once a year so I appreciate it for what it's supposed to be or at least close to what it's supposed to be.

Merry Christmas, by the way.

It's 10:12 PM on Christmas Eve here as I write this.

I worked today, I work tomorrow and I work Boxing Day (December 26th holiday in Canada).

I actually like that I work these days. It allows a certain amount of routine and I get to enjoy the holiday stuff with my family (including two young children). I didn't go all out shopping crazy. I bought a few board games and some second hand books and such for the kids. They opened them this evening (as I work really early Christmas mornnig). They liked their simple gifts. I didn't even set foot in a mall this year (I went to a small specialty store located in a street front store for the game). Just staying out of the malls kept my stress level low (I also didn't get Christmas overload with decorations and carols starting in November!! !! 8O

Anways, in whatever way you celebrate the season (or not) I wish everyone a happy holiday.

Yes. It was good until about 10:00 am this morning and now it's stale.

Time to go for a mountain bike ride in the woods in the snow alone. :D

I need some plumbing materials for our new bathroom, and the stores are closed today. So, that gives me a little more time to check in here on WP ...

I used to adore Christmas and get really excited. These days I just feel lonely most Christmases because my family are so spread out that I usually end up spending it with my cats. People who get to spend it with their family need to realise how lucky they are and forget about any BS arguments that crop up this time of year because it doesn't matter.

As a child, Christmas was indeed magical. Today, I see the magic of Christmas in my two sons, and in the celebration of the birth of Christ. But like many of you, I do struggle with getting that feeling I used to get on this day we call Christmas. But I had a most interesting thing happen this morning after the kids opened their presents. I went back to bed mid-morning to catch up on sleep---and I had a magical dream. I dreamed that I went with my parents to my grandparents house where my great aunts and great uncles had gathered. I hugged my grandmother and grandfather and was enjoying my relatives. I long for this...but I can only experience it in dreams and thoughts now---my grandparents and great aunts and great uncles are deceased. We had really great Christmas gatherings back in those days, and I can still smell the aroma of my grandmother's country kitchen lingering over my grandfather's too hot wood/coal burning heating stove.

But today is now...and the magic is still here to be found. All we have to do is find it. We must look at things to be thankful for. I am thankful for my family and for the fact that I still have my parents to enjoy things with.

I want to wish everyone here a magical Merry Christmas (or Happy Holidays for those of other faiths or other beliefs).
