Awww, they've killed off The Doctor (more or less) and replaced him with an emo kid. Trying to get better ratings by aiming for a younger audience?

Great. :(

Thank goodness for DVDs.

I just watched the trailer for the new series

I'm sure it will be as good as ever! :D
It always takes a bit of time to get used to a new doctor,
I bet when Matt Smith goes you will be disappointed as well. :P :wink:

*spoiler*

It was funny to see the Time Lords turn into a bunch of jerks. That time lady was apparently the doctor's mother! I can't believe the crazy activity on message boards about how much they hate the new doctor - after 20 seconds. I have to admit the first time I saw David Tennant I thought - geez here goes the show again - but his first episode changed all that and he's now my favourite. I'll reserve judgment until I see a bit more of Matt Smith.

Admittedly when I first saw who they cast as the new Doctor I thought "but he has no eyebrows!!" Having gotten over that, the only thing I instinctively dislike after the 20 seconds from the end of the last episode and from seeing that trailer, is "GERONIMO!" Other than that I'm actually pretty darn excited for the new series. Steven Moffat is amazing, and I can't wait to see the weeping angels again and pretty much all the things in that trailer (except for the kiss around 0:17, please don't make the doctor and companion be all lovey dovey, that would be terrible!)

I didn't like David Tennant for his first few episodes because I was bitter that Christopher Eccleston had left because I thought he was fantastic. But now I'm terribly upset to see DT go because he really was brilliant - haha, I can't help it, the catchphrases are appropriate in these instances. Anyway, I'm willing to give Matt Smith a chance and I think he'll be ... GERONIMO! No, see, it doesn't work, it needs to go away. :lol:

But I do think he'll surprise us all and be really great. At least I hope so.

I think he looks like he's going to be really good! The first picture I saw of him.. I sorta thought he looked like a vampire. And I still think so a little. XD; But he's kinda neat. I saw an interview of him, and I liked how he moved. XD;;;;;
I'm really excited for the new series. Doctor Who is getting so crazy. Like literally crazy, everyone is like going insane. XD;;;
I can't wait to see what happens next.

I was wondering about that myself - when they invented that piece of lore, certainly they didn't realize the series was ever going to get as far as it has, so it was a bit of optimism at the time that the doctor could go on "forever' even if the occasional actor jumped TARDIS - initially they certainly weren't expecting to be changing actors every few seasons I guess, 12 seemed a giant number at the beginning. Perhaps they will keep the doctor regenerating younger and younger, until things "reset" and he starts getting older again, or perhaps absorbing the TARDIS energy from Rose a few years ago changed the rules, or maybe he will receive some strange gift from the Ood or other grateful society that will change the lore etc - or simply they hope people like you and me "forget" about the limited regenerations... :lol: :wink: . I guess the writers have a few more years to think about that anyway. Hopefully the writing stays at a decent level with Russel T Davies gone now, as "end of time" was his last script, apparently.

It's definitely 12 regenerations for a maximum of 13 versions of the Doctor.

However, the Master exceeded his regenerations years ago and he keeps coming back and in a science fiction world where anything is possible, I'm sure they'll find away. I bet they make a big deal of it when it happens though ;)

As many times as it takes for the fans to get sick of it... 20... (dunno just like 20 as a number)

I bet that someone is going to come up with some extensively impossible solution in order to give him a 14th regeneration! After all they did somehow manage to explain that whole 'Doctor got cloned from a hand' thing in such a way that the majority couldn't properly understand it so we just mumbled and forgot about it! Thankfully I am one of these and I try not to question my favourite show too much!

I must look into watching the older series though...

Fundamentally it's a show about a technically immortal alien traveller who can go anywhere in space and time. It will go on forever.

Or until BBC is run by another bunch of jerks again.

I seem to remember someone saying something about the Doctor living forever in the most recent episode. Maybe it was that ood. ANYWAY, that chick he met in the library told him he was very young. He HAS to go on for at least a few hundred more years now.
Plus, of course, if they even mention the 13-incarnation limit thing, they'll come up with some amazing reason why he doesn't die. They've been doing stuff like that in like every single episode. How many times have the daleks been dead? The Master, the Time Lords, the cibermen? How many times have people been permanently trapped in another dimension, never to return? He'll be fiiiiine.

:lol: Too true, too true! Its definitely one of the charms of the show :D It is worth it just watching how the writers wriggle out of the lore, that is for sure. :lol:

Totally random, but, every time I get the reply
"Is that a tardis I h"

I think "Is that a tardis in your pocket or are you just happy to see me"

:mrgreen:
