I like it because I think it's good for some songs, though I'll admit it sounds horrible in some. Rap songs like T-Pain's use it well, but pop sings like JLS's just abuse it.

It's also great fun playing with it on my iPhone (if you have the iPhone or recent iPod touch, download the I Am T-Pain app, it's a bit pricey but you won't regret paying the £1.79).
