Why do some people type it with a small x? It looks weird. Is there a reason for it?

When I see someone use the "XP" emote I always think they're talking about the version of Windows between 98 and Vista.

When I started using the internet, I thought it was a word- XD. As in Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness. It doesn't bother me. In fact, I like the emote
