Uh I do. :-( LOL!

Harry Potter (Saw the hype for Sorceres Stone movie and borrowed all 4 (at the time) books from the Library then saw the movie in theaters have seen each in theaters ever since and bought books 5,6,7 on release) :-)

Twilight (Saw the hype for the DVD so bought the 3 disc special edition from Target then bought the first book on my Bday and read it in one day I then bought the other 3 books and saw New Moon in theaters and plan to see the others aswell.)

Avatar (It beat Star Wars! That was that I HAD to see what this movie was about. One of the best movies I've ever seen and I'd pay to see it again LOL!)

(I've also done this with videogames to varying degrees of success. Super Metroid,SM64,FFVII great games all the Fallout 3 hype VERY BORING game IMO aswell as Mass Effect and GTA4 (luckily only got those last 2 on sale for $10 each at Walmart phew!! !!)

So do YOU buy into hype?

No, I do not. I don't care how awesome someone says something is. They are not me; how could they dictate my tastes?

I don't buy into hype. The Beatles are all very fine, for the fans. The truth is that they aren't who I am, and I'm honestly more into the London groups, than the entirety of The British Invasion. I can listen to groups from 60s London, all day but I have a harder time getting into the groups that are more from the northern half of England. That probably explains why I speak with a Cockney accent that I refuse to lose.

I find that the more "hype" something has, the more dissapointing it will be for me.

Usually, it's the underrated stuff that does me in.

Hype? Yes please if it is on special offer. Two hypes for the price of one.... Hmmm maybe I could buy two hypes and sell one on eBay for a profit.

I don't buy into hypes because they are hypes, but sometimes hypes are my taste and then I buy into them. Pokemon and Turtles are good examples.
I like HP and Twilight, I have the books and DVDs because I enjoy them, but it stops there. They're not hypes for me.

Most hypes are not my thing at all, and often I don't even know about them until I happen to read something about it. I can be very oblivious.

It depends on what the hype is about.

I did buy myself a Wii, though.

Depends on if the hype matches the things I like.
I love music, so I really wanted an iPod nano when it came out.
I hate cell phones (or phones in general) so I have NO desire to buy a blackberry or Touch.

I do love Harry Potter, but not Twilight. I just think that HP was very well written and Twi, not so much.

The only hype I don't buy into is the Apple hype. Why? I already use a UNIX like OS called Ubuntu, iTunes is horrible software and iPods are crap in my opinion. My Cowon D2 blows the iTouch out of the water because it supports FLAC and ogg vorbis and sounds much better.

If you mean hype about products or entertainment media, then no. I make commercials for a living, so I'm immune to them. And I have no interest in popular culture, so it passes me by and I don't mind. I buy, read and watch what I like because it appeals to me, not because everybody else is doing it.

Funny enough, I learned about HP and Twilight before I learned about the hype. I still like HP, don't like Twilight :D

Video game systems I buy into the hype a little. I like to buy the DS and Wii systems, but it's because my other systems were dying or I wanted the new games, not because everybody else has them.

Only if the hype is about something that I think I'll be genuinely interested in. I don't do something or buy something just because other people advertise it as "the best ever created" (or something with a similar meaning).
