Ok so I been trying to figure this out...first they say they we are in a la Nina...then they change their mind mid course and say we are in a El NIno. Well This has to be one of the warmest winters I have seen this far north (Minnesota) It is raining right now for 2 days...in January! Usually we have -10 to -20 by now. Then there was that snow and ice in Florida late dec/early Jan. And something was said about reverse osscilation where it is going to get alot colder soon and the colder temps could persist for a few years or until the osscilation becomes positive again. Something about seawater from the arctic changing patterns. My aunt says its going to get really cold and we are all going to starve. She is a bit of an alarmist but I wonder how cold it gets during this negitive osscilation.

Anyone know anything about sun spots and its effect on global temps? I read something about that too but dont know the fine details of it.

And then there is climate change...that is a whole other ball of wax. I do believe that in this case...man has contributed to it...how could all this techlogical waste not have any impact at all?

pick a weather topic....any topic.

We've had very mild winter weather in my neck of the woods. There have been some instances, in which the mercury reached the 14 centigrade mark.

Where I live, the temperature has been about 5-7 celsius in the last week or so, a few degrees above the average for January, but it was nothing compared to the low of minus 18 celsius we had the other week.

only as a scientific discussion...I am totally facinated by the weather and can turn a general convo about weather into a topic of solar meterology....which is really facinating by the way.

There's a thick ceiling of clouds developing, and the clouds look very nebulous. It looks like there's going to be a lot of precipitation in my vicinity, today.

I hate mud...I never knew about Jan thaw before this year. It is very muddy here too...well was until 4 hours ago when the temp dropped drasticly with a windchill predicted tonight of -20. Now it is brown slippery ice.

But I love below freezing temps...but not the windchill.

I don't know a lot about the weather but the sky was pretty today. A lovely blue color. I like to organize things by color especially my movies. Labyrinth has a blue cover or at least the one i do. I only bought it because it has David Bowie in it. My favorite cd by David Bowie is Scary Mons- Oh, yeah the weather...yeah it's getting colder out. I think it was 64 degrees with that cold front coming in. Some cumulus clouds out today. I saw a cloud that was shaped like a mango. I like mangos. Mango juice, dried mango, mango salsa, mango soup, mango smoothies. Yes best fruit ever. Mangos remind me of that time when......

Tinky...you are soo much fun. Reminds me of my conversations how one flows into another to another before I know it I am talking about Thich Knat Hahn and his books on mindfulness which I so need dearly. You must live in the south..if you think 65 is a cold front in January. Mango remind me a mangas which remind me of my friend who is a die-hard anime fan.

I wonder what the weather is like in Australia right now?

Here in my artificial climate it's a tropical 26°C in the shade, which is everywhere given the ambient lighting.

It was very nice for a couple weeks here in Fargo (30sF), then a monster blizzard (same storm that caused tornadoes in California and massive rains in the Desert SW) came through over the weekend and now is frikkin' COLD again (6F)! :( Average high right now is 15F,
