Here's the symbol, if you can see it:-

So any idea what it is and what it means and what's it for? 'cause I have no idea what it is.

All I get onscreen is a square box with the code E328 inside it. That means the character is Unicode character number E328 (in hexadecimal). Depending on whether your font supports the character it will or will not display properly. By default if a font can't handle a character it shows the Unicode code for it instead.

I love symbology.

If it's this one (328E) then it's a "circled ideograph metal." The symbol for the element metal out of the five classical Eastern elements, I suppose. Er, with a circle round it.

Or possibly a really unhappy kipper.

It means that it's time for me to follow the Weight Watchers Winning Points system and lose weight.

If it's what Ambivalence posted, without the circle around it, it usually means money or gold.

328E and E328 are different Unicode codes. They are in completely different ranges. They run from 0000 to FFFF.

Yah, I couldn't find an E328. Oh, wait on, is it this one?

Er, heck, there's also stuff about emoji, whatever they are. Happy face emoji? Hum ho.

Linky with some stuff. Implies that someone is associating unicode numbers with stupid emoticons or something. That's E328.
