Anybody have inside info? I'm mainly curious about their equivalent of the marine corps.

Well, technically 'England' itself doesn't have a military as it's only a part, albeit a large part,of the United Kingdom (of Great Britain,i.e. England,Scotland and Wales) and Northern Ireland. The British armed forces comprise The Army,Royal Air Force,Royal Navy - which I think is inclusive of the Royal Marines, with the Territorial Army being part time reservists.Within The Army there are various
regiments each of which have long histories and traditions. Some of the regiments are based in particular parts of the UK,such as The Black Watch which is based in Scotland but is nowadays made up of troops from all over the UK.The SAS is a group of elite troops
specially trained for the toughest missions.

There's also the RAF Regiment (air force people with guns), and the Army Air Corps (soldiers with helicopters). which are notable sub-branches.

Royal Marines are always referred to using both words, and get upset if called "Marines". :)

Theres also the Army cadets, run all over the uk, which takes teenagers and trains them in an after school group. They don't get called up to war or anything, but most persue a career in the military afterwards. It is part of the army, and receives a funding from the goverment, so I've included it even though its probs not what you're looking for
