Woo! I might be getting a cat pretty soon! Or maybe in the summer! Anyway, I am pretty happy about this, hope we go to an animal shelter some day to look at some cat's. Might find someone there.
I want a pretty young one, a small kitten that's no more than a year would be great. Because I think the older cat's won't feel at home or something. Gotta see them in real life to feel a connection though.
Only problem is, my sister has a dog, a labradour (speling?) wich comes to visit us sometimes, wonder how they would get along with each other.

Hope I get one! Will cuddle and play with it, ALL the time!

Woohoo!

Anyone have anything I should be aware of or consider/think of?

Kittens learn to like dogs pretty readily as long as the dog is willing to play nice. Make sure that the kitten sees the dog often at first.

Take lots of pictures when the cat is still a kitten because they're so cute as kittens.

Yeah, we need to get the dog over quite often. To bad she lives 45 minuttes away with car. That's why my mum wants us to wait until the summer vacation so they can be here often. But I can't wait over 6 months, need something furry and cuddly now. Because school is killing me and it would be nice to have something to cuddle with when coming home.

Tiko (my sis' dog) is very friendly and doesn't bite or anything, he let's you touch in his mouth without him even complaining. He just goes abit nuts when theres other dogs around. Hope it will go okay.
Hehe, I would take pictures ALL DAY LONG EVERY DAY if I got a small kitten.

Great news! I have had cats of all ages, from newborn to 20, and they are all great. At my house, cats and dogs get along wonderfully. In fact, my first Siamese, Samantha, loved the dogs and played with them all the time. My current Siamese, Prince, is also a dog lover.

Good choice Airbrush. Stay away from those nasty mutts. I'm sure the dog will get along just fine with the cat. But be careful and watchful at first, and when no harm is apparent, let them mingle a bit before making a decision.

Agreed, but I predict the lab will fall hopelessly in love with the kitty, and that the kitty will lead him around by his snout.

Hehe, thanks everyone! Yeah, we would have to keep an eye on the two the first day or two. I am pretty picky when it comes to animals. I can almost tell wich ones that are calm etc.
We got a breeder that my grandma got her two cats from, lovely and smart cats. We're gonna see if that breeder has some kittens coming soon.
