OMG, I've been trying to respond to a post and I've been caught in the captcha loop. I would write the comment, submit it, get sent to a captcha, do the captcha to prove I wasn't a robot, get sent back to the quote (with my comment gone) and write it all over again and repeat. This happened like 4 times. :?: :skull:

This happened to me last week, in a thread where I really wanted to reply to. I was so angry about it, that it literally put me in a bad mood and I was like a bear with a sore head!

I found out that the post wasn't going through because I had an emoticon in brackets. When I took the emoticon out of the brackets, it broke the loop and let the post submit properly.

It's happened to me one other time. I didn't know to check and lost my post. The only thing that showed up was the quote. I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. This time I just had to completely sign out to break the cycle. And I ended up responding later. But it was CRAZY, like ME! 8O

CAPTCHA is one of these subprograms that is very, very buggy. It works sometimes and other times it disintegrates. If I put any work in a thread, I always save it to a scratch file, just in case CAPTCHA has one of its hiccups.

happened to me a couple of times in the two days. Quoted someone, and took time to write. Had to do that I am not a robot thing, and it erased what I wrote.

The funny thing is this. That captcha thing wouldn't even do a damned thing to protect the site from real robots.

Robots are "original posters". They start threads (like "Vishikarian Astrology services"). Robots don't enter existing threads, they don't quote people, and they don't write responses to human posts. So if you are doing that it should be obvious that you cant be a robot.

So thanks a lot for hassling us all while....at the same time...failing to protect us from anything!

Always "copy" your post if it's long or important. Then if it gets eaten you can "paste" it onto a new page.

:(

Hugs to Persephone.

Also, don't put too much faith in WP's own 'Save Draft' feature. It can be useful at times, but it's not immune to the obliterative tendencies of Monsieur Le Captcha.

That comment gave me the most bizarre visual image - eating a letter someone had posted
