Does anyone here have and use a slo cooker? I've got a small and a large one. I have used neither for ages.
By the time I have bought the meat or fish it seems to be cheaper to buy a ready meal.
I know people talk about mince, especially soya mince, as a cheap alternative but (a)dried soya mince when cooked is revolting (b) I am not sure mince of any kind is a good choice for a slo cooker.

Another problem I have is I usually end up with quite a watery gravy.

What kind of things do you cook in your slo cooker?

I like putting chicken thighs in my slow cooker. I use the chicken for wraps throughout the week when I do that. I also like to make pulled pork.

I use mine for making soup and bone broth.
I make 5 litres each time and freeze individual portions which I have for my lunch.

Favourite ingredients:
Sautéed onions, garlic, roasted butternut squash, brocolli, sweet potatoes, asparagus, carrots, parsnips, celery and chicken stock. Yum.
The only thing I chop are the onions, I roast the butternut first for flavour and the rest are just trimmed and peeled... after a few hours I blend the mixture and add seasoning as needed.

I use my slow cooker a lot.

What puts me off is the cost of fish/meat here in the UK.

I use mine to cook chicken, lentils, chili, and pot roast. You can add carrots, potatoes and stuff like that. Crock pot food always turns out good for me. I'm lazy so I use it often, especially in the winter. I just throw everything in there in the morning and let it cook all day.

You only need a small amount of meat if you make stews/soups/curries with beans/lentils/vegetables and you can use the cheaper cuts of meat. They always come out tender. Also, I usually make enough for several meals, so it works out cheap in the long run.

Not fond of beans and especially lentils(yuck!). Hard to find cheap cuts of meat using the supermarket.
