Total ditto for London, Cape Town, and Paris but am not familiar with the others. My votes go to those three and to:

Lisbon

Amsterdam

The three Andalucian cities of southern Spain: Sevilla, Cordoba and Granada

Venice

Athens

Istanbul

And I hope I one day get to see how walkably wonderful Marrakesh and Fez are too! :lol

:D

I hear that Boston, Massachusetts is a walkable city. One of its nicknames is "the walking city."

Edinburgh. And other old, historic cities which, being old and historic, are compact, such as York, Bath, Oxford, Cambridge.

Savannah GA is a nice city to walk. Provided you don't have allergies.

Lots of parks, waterfront, shops, museums, college stuff and nice places to eat.

I'm reading a book by an Englishman
by the name of Geoff Nicholson
called "The Lost Art of Walking."

It's insightful and amusingly witty.

In one chapter, he and another writer
claim London is the "walking city of the world."

Get yourself a copy at a bookstore close to you,
or from a library.

I've been to Boston and it's ideal for walking around, either at your own leisure or by following one of the tourist trails that are set up.

Laramie WY is great for walking around or cycling during the summer... with the one exception that the bike trails by the river are almost always flooded. Too much snow melting off the mountains.

The only drawback is lack of public transportation when you DON'T want to walk.

Cairns, QLD, Australia has an awesome esplanade walking track & botanical gardens walking tracks.

Sydney, NSW, Australia is a pleasantly walkable city.

Whangarei, Napier & Rotorua in New Zealand's North Island deserve a mention.

Austin, Texas is a good city when it's not blazing hot.

I could say New Orleans but i'd have to say watch out for the humidity, bums, messed up sidewalks, crazy bohemians, etc.

other than that it's an interesting place.
