So, I stay in my room a lot. I don't talk much during group activities–I'd rather sit back and observe (though I do jump in occasionally). I dislike big, loud parties. Outings can take a lot of convincing me... And words don't always come out naturally. Most thought, like, a ton of it–is internal. And I always think before saying.

But I spend a lot of time on msn, or facebook, or WP; internet socialising. Even if I'm not actively in a conversation. When depressed a lot (like I am now) This need for online people increases tremendously. And I want to be near my best friends in real life.

I also like being around people, but not necessarily engaged with them. I like sitting in a corner of a public place watching people, but staying silent.

Spending time with people does have its toll. I need time to recharge.

So, am I an introvert? Or secretive extrovert?

I would say that you're more of an introvert than anything. You probably enjoy online socializing so much because you're not actually talking to anybody in person. And you like to study and observe people, but no necessarily be engage with them. I can relate to a lot of what you said.

I think that I'm an introvert, most of the time. The only time that I'm an extrovert, is when I'm out with my friends.

I am very much an introvert. Socializing is very draining for me; I get energized from being by myself, immersed in my obsessions.

Hi Spazzie Image

Didn't you take the Myers Briggs thingy, INFP / ENTJ ect. ?
(The first letter indicates intro / extro)
Take the Test here (50 questions)
I'm INFP BTW

Here are some indicators

Extroverted Characteristics
  • Act first, think/reflect later
  • Feel deprived when cutoff from interaction with the outside world
  • Usually open to and motivated by outside world of people and things
  • Enjoy wide variety and change in people relationships
Introverted Characteristics
  • Think/reflect first, then Act
  • Regularly require an amount of "private time" to recharge batteries
  • Motivated internally, mind is sometimes so active it is "closed" to outside world
  • Prefer one-to-one communication and relationships

or - Here is a quick general indicator, 10 Questions

Let us inquiring minds know how it went

Thanks for answering my question, DaWalker. :)
It said I am 75% introvert. The second quiz did.
I'm an INFP, too :P I did take the myers-briggs one, but just wasn't sure, and beginning to second-guess it.

Extrovert stuck inside an introvert's body.

I think you're introvertic. Introvert doesn't mean totally unsociable and friendsless. Most people want to have friends, but not everyone want all the world to be their friends

Ah that makes sense.

I think this is why I have trouble keeping friends. I love them around but when I want some time to myself or don't have the motivation to go to parties and social gatherings that require socio-multi-tasking, then they lose quickly lost social interest with me. :(

Well you little Spazzmanian Devil you, INFP, imagine that! :P
But I gotta hand it to you kid, you're much better at expressing yourself,
and you have much bigger watcha-ma-call-it's than most of the guy's I know. 8O

Very well said. A part of me wants to go out and play, but the majority of me says "that ain't gonna happen".
Online really is much easier though. (most of the time)
:)

Introverted here, most definitely - I hate public events, going out, etc.
And yet I have an extrovert streak too...

I'm an introverted extrovert.
I'm extroverted because I like people and I like to be around my friends and being alone for too long drives me mad.
But I am very introverted at the same time because I tend to stay in my own personal thoughts and distance myself.
