I'm not sure. Currently I'm getting regular disability benefits ($339/month). Though i just got a letter from the place saying that since i was in navy basic training and got a general discharge (& not a dishonorable discharge) for having Asperger's, that i may be eligible for Veteran's Benefits instead.

Anyone know if this might in fact be likely ?
Because to my knowledge, i'd get somewhat more under Veteran Benefits, & so if i could get that instead, it might be preferable.

You need to go in and fill out the application form. It isn't very hard to do. If you don't have a nearby VA medical place, find the one you would go to and send the application there- you can download it from . They will let you know. I had a hard time at first because I made too much money the year previous (yeah they go by the prior year income). Then it took forever for them to process my paperwork after I had been poor for a year. With $399 a month of income only, you will qualify financially. If you are looking to get VA disability, though, it is highly unlikely because they will only give you a pension for medical issues that are service related or developed during the service, and you were not in long enough to have anything like that. But do look into the medical stuff- even if it takes a few months, it is worth getting free medical care and prescriptions.
