Do you care about people's accent?

Inspired by this and other threads. Do you recognise the accent easily and quickly? Or maybe you have problems with it?
Does somebody's accent influence your perception of this person? Does it change how you see them?

Nope, I'm still the same guy and I don't really care about their accents as such, as long as they are cool people to chat to.
Yes, I love the Australian and the Irish accents, they are totally awesome.

I never really cared but apparently there are some narrow minded idiots that do.

As long as I can understand them, I don't think there's going to be any trouble.

Do I care? No.

Can I understand them? Difficult, because I auto-focus on the tonal aspects of their speech and lose the content.

I don't really care about other people's accents, because I have an open mind.

I find accents cute and fascinating actually.

I care only if I can't understand them. I get frustrated when I pick up only every third word and need to extrapolate the rest, all the while having to pretend that they are speaking fluently.

I work in IT so of course this happens all the time. We have a lot of temp workers and contractors from overseas.

And of course, the rules dictate that I am not supposed to mention that their English sucks. Pretending is not my strong suit. How very frustrating.

They don't influence me...I like meeting people with accents. People have asked if I have an accent (I live in the US), but I don't. I mean an accent other than from where I'm from.

Almost all accents turn me on a little. Coming out of the right guy, it turns me on a lot!

I like it when other people talk with an accent other than an American one. To me, American accents are bo-ring (probably because I live here). I'm especially fond of British accents, because they are used in many movies I enjoy.

I love accents. The only times I can't understand is over the phone if they have a strong accent that I'm not used to hearing. And one time in person at work when I couldn't understand this guy partially because it was a strong accent I'd never heard before, and partially because I was dumbstruck by how attractive he was.

I've watched a lot of British shows and movies and I'm pretty good now at identifying regional accents.

I don't usually care, but I'm not great at understanding accents. Once I get used to an accent to where I understand it easily, I start to have the problem of randomly mimicking it slightly, to the point that I've accidentally come off to some as mocking them. .__.

Overall, I find accents from outside the U.S. fairly interesting, and don't tend to care much about ones from inside it, as long as I understand the person.

No, I personally don't. I've had to many damn people say they don't understand me when I'm not screaming at them to care about some vocal quirks here and there.


French accents, I will admit, are a little hard for me to decipher.

I can pick out most American accents, British and Australian sound the same to me, as do Scots and Irish. I don't judge people by their accents, I'm more than happy that they just know/learned English and that I can understand them.

I have a thick Long Island accent, so I don't have the luxury of being picky. I have try hard to enunciate and speak slowly for many ESL (English second language). Nowadays I can speak accent-less English, which I use in college and any professional settings since I was told it would affect my future job prospects; I forget sometimes and it comes out, and get ostracized for it.

I notice accents, but it never occurred to me that something like that should influence my perception of a person.
