There's Stephen Wiltshire, the human camera. (WP won't let me post a video link)

I've seen some African American (or maybe African UK) faces on avatars here.

Maybe the governor of NY state (not sure)? He has a very shrewd and quirky sense of humor.

Another fascinating figure is Benjamin Banneker, a clock maker and self taught astronomer from the 1800s... he was a genius and died a recluse.

African Aspies topic

I read an interesting book Asperger's and Self-Esteem and there was a biography on an African American actor named Paul Robeson. he seemed to fit many of the characteristics of Asperger's, but he lived and died long before Asperger's became generally known.

In this book author Norm Ledgin has researched some more famous artists/scientists and found many of them with definite Aspie traits. the book was written for diagnosed Aspies who may be feeling upset after learning their diagnoses.

If I had to guess I'd say Miles Davis. He was well known to be eccentric and not to engage in typical social interaction. Toward the latter half of his career he did all his concerts with his back to the audience.

I'm an African American with AS. The only other black person I know who's on the spectrum is Stephen Wiltshire. There should be more black autistics noted, famous or not so.

I disagree. Michael Jackson was weird but he was not an aspie. You could be right with Miles Davis though.

As far as fictional characters go, one that really springs to mind is the character Harry Noble from *Batteries Not Included. He's very shy guy, the only time he ever speaks is with television commercial quotes.

There should be more autistics noted whether they are black white asian or zoogoid... (I made the last one up...). We need more famous people to raise awareness that we are human too and not robots to be mistreated!

A casual look around Wrong Planet further reinforces that statement...
