I don't understand what people get out of watching movies. I'm mostly interested in what people who really like movies have to say about it. I don't get them, generally. If you do, and you really like just watching them in general, can you explain why?

I like movies like The Butterfly Effect. They remind me of a nightmare and I like nightmares.

I love watching movies for the same reasons I like any other type of fiction - because it's a temporary escape into another world. My real life is pleasant enough, but it's also very boring, so I look to movies for excitement. I love getting to know the characters and making up new stories about them after the movie's over.

Me too. I have never wrote fanfiction though.

They are like dreams that someone else's brain made. It's like escaping into a different world for an hour and a half. Some movies have taught me a lot. Some made me laugh a lot, and that's valuable. A lot of them just steal your time and put a bunch of light and sound in your face.

I see both sides. I think movies are a pointless waste of time, they accomplish almost nothing. I also love them, especially when they are thought provoking.

i actually prefer movies to TV. i like getting lost in a story for 2 hours or so. tv is more or less a disappointment, and when i do watch it it's the history channel or something mindless like iCarly (jerry trainor makes me laugh)

Part of my problem is the length. I feel like I'll burst sitting there that long and then the other part is feeling like I'm being dragged along some emotional thing I don't understand. There are some movies I like, but they are way far and few between. They are ones that made me think. After a movie, I feel like it's difficult to sort of "come back", like it invades my mind. Bleh.

I like movies, myself. Really, I just like storytelling in general, no matter what form it's in. It's all about the escape from the ordinary into the extraordinary.

that's why i don't go out to movies, well one of the reasons. first off, i don't like the masses, secondly, i can't abide the crackling wrappers, and thirdly, i like the ability to pause it for a smoke or pee break. i usually download, then if i like the movie i buy it, if i hate it i delete it and never watch it again.

I prefer music to both movies, and television, unless the movie is a documentary that's music related.

You wouldn't possibly enjoy documentaries about the Kinks, would ya? ;)

I'll probably never be in a highspeed chase, a bank robbery, a warzone or, be able to sleep with a hot chick like Nichole Kidman but, I can watch a movie about those things.
