Does anyone else get stressed out at the grocery store? I like shopping for the food it's just that I find it to be so frantic that I just want to get out of there. People everywhere (usually rushing behind you so you don't even have time to LOOK at anything), lots of noise, long lines. It's not just a friendly place for me. :(

might be like that for me if i felt more rushed, or if my locl grocery store were more corwded, but usually i take my time and the lines generally aren't too long.

having that feeling that i'm forgetting something as i approach the register does tend to come up though :? .

It's like a library, but with food.

@Seanmw - Yeah, that happens to me but only when I'm at home putting the groceries away. "Oh crap I forgot the mustard!" Or something like that. That's why we have a list but sometimes I forget to put stuff on that list. D:

@Ferdinand - Indeed. I like libraries better though. A bit quieter and there are more books than people. ^_^

mehhh, usually when i'm grocery shopping i don't really bring a list. I might have a few things in mind that i know i definitely need, but other than that, i'll just sorta casually browse around and be like, "oh, i think i could use some of that" or "that looks good" if i see something else i want, though generally stick within a certain budget.

What helps me is that I try to get to the grocery store, as soon as it opens. That way, I'm in and out of there, in a flash, and I don't have to deal, with those long line ups.

I hate shopping period. I can sort of enjoy online shopping, but it's only marginally better.

I always end up spending too much, and have a history of having meltdowns in the middle of stores.

Seanmw - That makes sense. If I did that though, I would go over my budget. The list helps me only pick what I need and not go over-budget. ^_^

CockneyRebel - Sounds like a good idea. Too bad I like sleep too much. >.>

TeaEarlGreyHot - I like shopping for clothes and jewelry and shiny things. Online shopping is fun too but I prefer to see the item before I spend money, just so I can measure the quality better and see if it fits. >.<

I have always hated clothes shopping and jewelry just seems pointless to me most of the time. If it doesn't have a specific meaning, I don't want it.

Don't get me wrong, I love having new things. It's the environment in the stores and the frustrations over searching for what I need/want that gets to me. Though, I have to admit I have never disliked shopping for shoes or purses. lol

I try to go when it gets late and the store is not crowded. I hate when I get there too late and they are cleaning the floors or stocking the shelves.

I don't mind going to grocery stores. I usually go with my parents while they're out shopping, and I just like to wander through the store. I find grocery stores to be relaxing, for some reason.

I should go to the grocery store soon. I'm running low on things that look appealing to eat... :?

Here is what ticks me off:

People who park their shopping carts in the middle of the aisle so that you can't get past them.

If you get grumpy and say "EXCUSE ME" they look surprised and move their cart....... but in the next isle they will do exactly the same thing!

For gosh sakes! These people have been shopping in supermarkets for 10 or 20 or 30 or 40 years.

How stupid can they be that they can't keep their trolley to the side so that you can get past them?

I try to avoid supermarkets during the day and prefer to go in the evenings a bit after rush hour has died down. I go to the supermarket which is on the extreme west end of my town as there's always less people there and I'm bound to get a carpark out the front, as opposed to the supermarket right in the CBD.

Coles and Woolies keep having these bulk purchase specials on the ice creams I like to buy. It annoys me for someone who doesn't need (and who doesn't have the freezer space for) that much stuff.

I think one of the least crowded times to shop is during dinner time. Try shopping at smaller stores or at least stores which have self check out, if possible.
