Hey, that is really cool! I have ALWAYS wanted to play the drums, but my mother does not like the noise. It's too bad, really. And the only way I will ever have my own set of drums is when I have my own house, which is far down the road---years and years down the road. I have always wondered if I had gone for percussion tryouts in 7th grade instead of just withdrawing from everything because I was tired of it all if I might have been able to convince my mother otherwise. Oh well. I envy you!

my mum didnt let me play the drums either.
i got round it thought because i wanted to play them so much

she gave me an allowance every week and used it to have drum lessons at school. after a while i entered a school talent show and tols my mum id be playing the flute. so i took the flute case with my drumsticks inside! and mum and dad went and watched... i played the drums on stage and afterwards mum and dad were saying well how did u learn , and i told them how id been using my allowance and from that point she paid 4 the lessons.
i did not get my very own drum kit till 2 years after i started playing, with the rules in place that i am not allowed to play the drums whilst mum and dad are in the house - the same rule applies today.

u could aleays buy a practise pad and pair of sticks and learn rudiments (drum rolls paradiddles flam taps etc). or there are drum sets witch u can buy that have mesh drum heads, and they are quiet to play. or you could buy an electronic drum set, with an adjustable volume with a head set.
as an aspie i used to always wait for people to do things for me. but ive learnt that if you want something so much you have to set the wheels rolling yourself

I say what she says. Go girl.
I play the drums as well.

Can I find a drumming thread in here somewhere? If not, we'll just have to make one.

That's pretty good, thanks for sharing it. Are you in a band? My husband is the drummer in a band - they do mostly rock style praise & worship (church stuff), and I'm the sound girl for the band. He has a black Pearl Export drum kit with Sabian cymbals, all about 7-8 years old. (That's when he started playing, age 23, self-taught.) He did have the drums converted to electronic (everything, cymbals etc included), run by a Roland TD-8 module - he did it himself with plans from a drum forum. www.electronicdrums.com Now they're back to acoustic though. At church for regular Sunday services he plays a real electronic Roland TD-10 kit. He's gonna be teaching three people from our church how to play, and one of them is a 14 year old girl.

that sounds relaly cool.!

myco ordianation is not the best, but i worked at it. im not a grat drummer considering i played 9 years, but im great as far as i and my friedns are concenrned because of the amount of effort i put in to get this far. which NT drummers just dont understamd. ki do have rhythm though.. its just learning to do 4 different rhythms with 4 limbs all at one time!

my pearl elx is a year old, just over. but i own 3 kits alltogether in cluding that, and my 1st kit- a tama swingstar, and an i have a set of arbiter flats too
