What shapes have you seen in things?

It has always been easy for me to find them.

* I made this two years ago. Some of the shapes were in a wooden table or in water next to the bathroom sink:

* When I saw this rock:

I thought it looked like someone's head, and then I realised it looked like John Howard:

* After I drew these:

I noticed a lady's face (who looks like a man) in the eye one:

And a man's face in the bird one:

* I have two birthmarks on one of my legs, and I have always thought it looked like a little witch or wizard running away from a cornflake.

* When I was nine, I went to sleep on a couch next to a brick fireplace. I could see the shape of a baby's face in the bricks.

* When I was about 15, I was sitting at a bus stop and saw some dirt on the ground. I kept looking at it because it looked like a lady's face, and I was trying to think of who she looked like, because she looked familiar. I didn't want anyone to hurt her by standing on her face.

* When I was 14, I had three chocolate chip cookies that looked like they had faces (only like :) and :(, not proper faces). I kept them in freezer bags in a drawer for a few months, and thought about selling them on eBay. My sister wouldn't let me because it was her eBay account.

* I look at the front/back of cars and think they look like a face, and that some of them look like if they were people, they wouldn't be very nice. Some look like they would be.

* I have seen marks on a wall that looked like a dog.

Can you see any of the things I could see in those photos?

Holy crap, that's cool!
You have a very keen sense of observation. :star:

I see faces/figures in a lot of things. Sometimes they're the basis for my drawings. :)

One thing I've noticed is that a wreath above a fireplace looks like a Cyclops.

If you google "faces in objects" you can find a lot of hysterical things. :D

I'm a cartoonist so it's not that unusual for me to find faces and other anthropomorphic features in everyday objects. :)

Apparently the only kind of face I'm *not* good at finding in objects is Jesus, but according to the news at least a million other people have every day. :P

Back in the 90's people even thought they could see the face of Jesus on the brick wall outside a Tim Hortons not far from where I live, and I would see crowds of people standing there. It's closed down now, I guess people stopped "seeing" Him.

I see faces and shapes in things all the time. I also see faces in trees and rocks. :)

haha the john howard rock is uncanny! the horse shape looks more like a gas mask to me though

i do see those kinds of patterns everywhere ("jesus on a toast" kind of thing), especially when i'm tired. but then when there's some kind of natural feature (cave, mountain, big rock, etc) and it has a name like "sitting dog" or "angel's face" and so on, i usually don't see it

I see human faces in the faces of analog clocks. depending on the juxtaposition of minute and hour hands, it could be one person or another. this illusion is fairly stable no matter where I sit or stand while looking at said analog clock.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pareidolia

It is called Pareidolia.

Quote:
Pareidolia (/pærᵻˈdoʊliə/ parr-i-doh-lee-ə) is a psychological phenomenon involving a stimulus (an image or a sound) wherein the mind perceives a familiar pattern of something where none actually exists

Common examples are perceived images of animals, faces, or objects in cloud formations, the man in the moon, the moon rabbit, and hidden messages within recorded music played in reverse or at higher- or lower-than-normal speeds
