I love photography and is my main source of reference material for doing paintings and other artwork.
That is a neat idea in using photographs for your reference material. I did that once with a Bob Ross paint set. I had taken pictures of my great great grandfather's log cabin in Kentucky and then did the painting. Wow, that was harder to do than I thought it would be. What kind of subjects do you like to paint?
I do portraits, landscapes, flowers and stills, among other kinds of creative work. Photography is an art in itself and very enjoyable. Your log cabin scene sounds really nice. I have one like that but is the back of a house I once lived in with an elevated deck, apple trees and perennial gardens which I did in watercolor. I hope you do more when you get the chance if you find it enjoyable. But yes, it does take a great deal of ambition to create a successful painting. It's always a tremendous challenge, but one I enjoy. Thank you for asking.
