...and any other forum for that matter. Whenever I make a post, I spend the next several hours checking back every five minutes or so to see if anyone has responded to it. It's addictive, like gambling, video games, or TV. I just wish I could pull myself away and never come back again. Think of the amount of time I will have freed up if I do that?

At the bottom of topics there is a link that says Watch this topic for replies.

If you click that link you will receive an email each time a topic you've watched has had one reply you haven't read.

There are a lot of items on my to-do list. Homework, my job, studying operating system concepts, getting wireless to work on my newly-installed Debian system, working on my website, reading the Linux Bible, getting past level 3 of Battle for Wesnoth, starting work on my novel, reading sci-fi, programming in C, taking walks every day to prevent depression, and not staying up past 2:00 AM on the computer are just a few of them.

I think getting my Mac as a graduation present was the best and the worst thing that ever happened to me.

I do that, too. Well I at least keep it open in a tab and check my posts every 5-10 minutes. Nothing wrong with that.

I just had to walk across the room and fire up my wife's machine to come here and have something to do while mine is tied up with updating ...

my lord.......i feel your pain....but seriously, if you're doing all those things, how do you have time for wp?

i will be cutting time on wp myself. i am now a full time care taker/giver. i also get too angry when i post on a subject that i know more about than 99.9% of other people on wp and am ignored, called a liar, have humans say things that are so wrong to be laughable but they are believed and i am not. if it was about politics, or movies, or books, or programming, or octomoms, or cars, or sex, etc. i wouldn't care at all. this is about caring for those lifeforms that cannot fight for themselves, what most of you call pets. what i call companion animals. it drives me batty to have to read the crap some morons write about their animals and i cannot stop them from doing the exact wrong thing. it's like seeing dog/fight films and wanting to kill everyone involved.

does anyone else feel this way when they write about a subject they know inside/out, upside/down? or maybe i'll be ignored here also.hahahahahahhahahhahahahahahahhahahhhaha.

MONKEY LORD....might i interest you in meditation/yoga. might calm you down a bit. there is a thing called: way too much crap going on.

i struggle with this a lot. my obsessions wax and wane, but WP is definitely my current addiction.

i work full-time, am writing an article for an autism society newsletter, cook and do some of the chores in my house, write a blog, go out with friends, create music, maintain a marriage and a relationship with my daughter.... yet i STILL manage to spend several hours a day on WP!! !

but i remind myself that before WP, i had a series of other hobbies/obsessions, which were really no more fruitful:

-sewing/fashion design
-photography
-art
-rock and fossil collecting
-jewelry design
-birdwatching
-reading blogs
-playing video games
-baking

i still do all of these hobbies, buit after the initial obsession passes, they become more occasional interests.
