Catherine Allen-Hello, is this the Bukater Residence?
Sadie Malden-Yes, may I ask who is calling?
Catherine-This is Catherine Allen, head of Rose's school. Is her mother available?
Sadie-Yes, I will go get her.
Catherine-Thank you.
(Unintelligible sounds are heard, the phone is picked up.)
Ruth Bukater-This is Rose's mother, how can I help you?
Catherine-I'm calling to inform you that your daughter; Rose is in trouble.
Ruth-Trouble? what sort of trouble? You can punish her accordingly, I gave the consent to do so.
Catherine-No, not that kind of trouble. Rose is on her way to the hospital.
Ruth-What?!
Catherine- A little while ago, a fellow student found Rose at the bottom of the stairs, unconscious. Blood was issuing from her mouth.
Ruth-What? My god.
Catherine-Had it not been for the quick thinking of her friends, Rose would be dead.
Ruth-Where are Emily and Elizabeth?
Catherine- Emily was sent along with Rose in the ambulance. Elizabeth has been sent home with an Allison Coburn.
Ruth-My god why did this happen to her? She's done no wrongdoing to anyone! Rose is an innocent child.
Catherine-I know. Emily told me after we calmed her down that it was a fellow student that shoved her.
Ruth-What is her name?
Catherine-I'm sorry, I cannot give that information to you. You'll have to get it from Emily herself.
Ruth-That's how it is then? I think I know who it is, but I cannot say either, for fear that I would be wrongfully accusing someone of a crime they hadn't committed.
Catherine-We haven't detained the student, we will see how she acts the next few days. I will be calling your husband, since he is her father, he ought to know what happened to his daughter.
Ruth-Yes, please call him. I don't think he's busy now, save for lunch.
Catherine-If there's anything you need, please call.
Ruth-Thank you.
