OK so I went on a four hour trip to see my cousins wedding, I was wearing a cute lavender dress with matching lavender heels. I was at the before wedding set-up that took three hours about, and also apx. six hours at the wedding/after party, we were all dancing, talking having fun etc. ( I just found out my cousin who is three years older than me and totally awesome was diagnosed with aspergers) - ANYWAYS I got back to my family's house and went into the guest room to take my clothes off. When I took my heels off my socks were DRENCHED in blood - because I guess I had blisters that I didn't notice or something,...! !
OMG the bottom of my feet have bubbles, THE BOTTOMS. Am I really that daft I didn't notice myself getting injured??

Do you have numbness or decreased sensitivity in your feet? I would be a little worried about something like that.

Ouch, that actually sounds really painful, the easiest thing I can think of is to cover it with a plaster and relax your feet so they can heal quicker. :)

Ugh. I get blisters on the bottoms of my feet a lot too. I do a lot of walking when I get to my job. I have to wear sneakers. I remember one time wearing heels and my feet didn't look good. I remember going to someone's wedding and the bride was wearing sneakers.

Sometimes, people get so into what they're doing that they don't feel pain until they realize that they have a wound.

I did that with a new pair of Doc Martins boots, I put them on at the store then continued on with my shopping, when I got home I pulled my boots off, my socks were soaked with blood, had blistered both ankles and the bottom of my feet.
anyhow heres a cute short story by Steve Martin

CRUEL SHOES

Quote:

Anna knew She had to have a new pair of shoes today, and Carlo had helped her try on every pair in the store. Carlo spoke wearily, "Well, that's it. That’s every pair of shoes in the place."
"Oh, you must have one more pair. . . .”
"No, not one more . . . . Well, we have the cruel shoes, but no one would want to try . . .
“Yes, let me see the cruel shoes!"
"No, you don't understand, you see, the cruel shoes are . . .'
"Get them!"
Carlo disappeared into the back room for a moment, and then reappeared carrying an ordinary shoebox. He took off the lid and removed a hideous pair of black and white pumps. But this was not an ordinary pair of black and white pumps; both were left feet, one had a right angle turn with separate compartments that pointed the toes in impossible directions. The other shoe was six inches long and was curved inward like a rocking chair with a vise and razor blades to hold the foot in place.
Carlo spoke hesitantly, ". . . Now you see . . . they' re not fit for humans . . ." "Put them on me."
"But... "Put them on me!"
Carlo knew all arguments were useless. He knelt down before her and forced the feet into the shoes.
The screams were incredible.
Anna crawled over to the mirror and held her bloody feet up where she could see.
"I like them."
She paid Carlo and crawled out of the store into the street.
Later that day, Carlo was overheard saying to a new customer, "Well, that's it. That’s every pair of shoes in the place. Unless, of course, you'd like to try the cruel shoes."

If that happened to me, I would have passed out, very quickly. You are a real trooper.

That's true. This past summer at Yellowstone there was a trail that we were on that lead to a waterfall observation point. There was an unofficial trail that lead from the observation point down to the riverbank, but it was deteriorated and very steep. I tried to show off in front of my cousin by sliding down the steep part on my feet, fell over and ripped a hole in my jeans around the knee. I didn't realize that I had also cut my knee until about ten minutes later. It was stinging - just enough for me to notice - so I rolled up my pants leg to find that I was dripping blood. Of course, by that time the wound was half-closed. I did take some bottled water and a paper towel from the bathrooms to clean it before it scabbed up completely.

Of course, I'm no stranger to minor cuts and scrapes, since I lead a very active lifestyle, including running, cycling, parkour, and the like. Given my tendency to be really active, it's a miracle I haven't done anything worse than that to myself. Never broken a bone or anything. The only time I was in the hospital was when I was a newborn baby, they kept me for a few extra days in ICU because of lung complications.

Other than that I'm pretty lucky, not just injuries but illnesses too. Suiseiten had a cold this past week, it had been going around campus, and I think I might have caught it too, only I wasn't as incapacitated. I only get sick about once or twice a year, and it's usually something minor that lasts for the span of 24 hours or so. Here's hoping that my current lucky streak regarding my health contintues.

to the OP

Pain is all about 90 percent mental, I'm willing to guess that you had sore feet and you didn't focus on that, so you built up a high tolerance to it and didn't notice that you blisters untill they burst.
