joined here or your sibling or parent?

Today I saw the username Meredith and I freaked out. I thought it was my cousin so I check her profile and I see it was a male Have Asperger's- Diagnosed and I read his post and see it is indeed not my cousin.

She has seen this forum before so when I saw that name here finally, I felt freaked. I don't think I'd want my cousin here and have her see what I write here. Plus it's obvious which user I am here. I would hate to change my avatar and not be able to use any ALOTO ones and getting rid of my rank title under my name and then hope she never figures out it's me. Plus I would hate to censor myself here about my life.

I don't think my parents would join here but if they did it'd probably freak them out to read my posts. My husband may well have had a browse through what I've posted as I've told him my username but I don't mind, as I haven't posted anything I haven't already told him.

I wouldn't be too pleased, because this is the place I have my privacy and can talk about my deepest thoughts. Also I do talk about my family and friends on here, so yeah.

they wouldn't waste their time, besides they'd probably join DoA before here, and I am cool with that

While she hasn't actually joined (that I know of), my wife is on here all the time.. it doesn't bother me, I have no secrets and often I'm able to express how I feel here better than face to face.. I love you babe!

I can think of certain members of my family that, if they joined, would prompt my immediate departure from WP. Not because there's anything wrong with them, but because I would no longer feel safe to share my innermost innermosts, if you know what I mean.

I might reign myself in on some of the more disgusting sex discussions. Or ramp it up. I can't decide.

Thankfully, my parents are less than computer-savvy, so I don't have to worry about them joining WrongPlanet. :)

I don't really see why anyone else in my family would join WrongPlanet, since I'm the only person in my family I know of who has Asperger's. I do have relatives who know about my Asperger's, but I don't think that would compel them to want to join an entire online forum dedicated to it.

If, as unlikely as it would be, someone in my family were to get a WP account, I would have to edit my profile information so that it wouldn't be obvious to them that it's me. I did the same thing when I started adding relatives on Facebook - I edited my profile. There are some things I have said on WP that I would not want anyone in my family to see.

My parents are too busy with work to bother with WP. Besides, they barely know how to send emails - posting on a forum would be too difficult for them.

If one of my sisters joined here, it'd be bad news. One of them is an evangelical Christian, and though we are of similar religions, some of the un-Christian things I write here would shock and deeply offend her (particularly what I tend to write in the Adult Forum). My other sister would just get extremely angry with me because I talk badly about her here.

On the other hand, I do think that my younger brother should join. My mom and I both suspect him of having AS, though he vehemently denies having any traits. However, perhaps it's best that he does not join, as he is highly argumentative and only sees the world in "black and white", so I can picture him getting banned easily. Plus, I often talk badly about him here as well.

I would not be happy at all becuase some of the things I do they don't know about. I don't even know if they know about this site and I'm not going to ask them.

I thought that it happened to me once before, so yeah, I checked posts and stuff just like you, definately not who I thought it was.

Would've hated it if it really was that person though.

i would be surprised if there wasn't anyone here i knew.
dreading the day of that discovery though.

Are you afraid people will know you have Aspergers or are you afraid they will get to see the real you?
