I donated blood yesterday. I really hate needles, and the needle for taking blood is HUGE! But the hospital was good to me recently with an injury I had, so I thought I would contribute a little something to the system.

You know that was some good manners you have to do something like that.

Donating blood always makes me pass out. It's not the needles or the sight of blood that does it either. It's just that after they've taken a certain amount of blood, I just can't keep it together anymore.

Probably because it drops your blood pressure a lot, which means your brain isn't getting enough oxygen, so you just shut down for a while. Different peoples' bodies react differently to such a drop in blood pressure. It makes me all light-headed.

I would love to do that and give in that way, but I have a terrible phobia of needles, especially of giving blood. Every time the doctor requires me to, I end up passing out and I usually have to be held down first.

It's a shame, too, because I'm type O negative. Isn't that supposed to be the most desirable blood type for donating?

When the doctor or nurse says "This might sting a little bit", they mean it's going to hurt a lot. Liars. :P
