That's what my dad calls them when someone has put up too many Christmas lights.

Do any of you do this to your home? Would you ever want to?

I have always loved them and wished my parents would make my house goddy but now as an adult I wouldn't want to make mine goddy because it's too much work to put it all up and the fact I bet it rings up the electric bill and I hate to have a high bill.

You mean "gaudy"?

I suppose they're amusing to look at, but I wouldn't decorate my home like that. I prefer a modest amount of Christmas lights. It's easy on the eyes and on the electric bill.

As usual, I'm conflicted. They're (1) fun but (2) tasteless. I'm glad other people do them so I don't have to be tempted.

That's my stance as well. We have some lights indoors (a prelit tree and garland), but nothing outside.

I don't like it when it goes overboard, a nice clean line of lights and it's good. Most of my neighbours houses are just too much and my family's house has nothing outside.

Those must be a pain to put up and take down.

If I had all the lights, I would put all my efforts and hard work into getting my house to look like what i've just saw and show all my mates to say how cool like I am. :D

Oh wait...

I like looking at them but I wouldn't want to put all that up myself or pay the high electric bill. I also wouldn't want to live near such a house because the lights would shine through my curtains when I was trying to sleep and there would be a lot of traffic from people coming by to look at the house

I saw a TV show about gaudy Christmas houses. One person was asked where he puts all that suff the rest of the year and he said he rented a storage locker in a warehouse. So yes, it really does take a warehouse. The rental fees for using that locker all year is just one more expense beyond the electricity and paying for new bulbs when these inevitably burn out.

i like to look at them, but no i would not wont to do that, reason 1, power bill, reason 2, looks like it would take a while to put up/take down.
