I've got a pretty good beard going on but no one seems to be commenting on it. I don't know if they're not noticing and, come on, how could you not? Or it's not a very good one and they don't want to point it out.

Show us. I always notice that I always have to point out what I've done different with myself, clothing style/ hair ect... It seems everyone else is so wrapped up in worrying about themselves to notice me anyways.
But I'm a grown women, I've got to be mature about it. I can't jump up and down and say, "look at me" and flip my hair back and forth- like a rock star.
I do that in my house though and my boys think it's hilarious!

Nice, almost a full beard!

I think you should colour-up those greying/white patches.

I think the beard looks good. In fact, I think the gray looks rather distinctive.

I suspect many males, particularly in America, feel somewhat awkward in discussing another male's appearance. Also if you make a radical change to your appearance, they might not know what they are suppose to think about the change and so they might not feel comfortable making any kind of comment at all. Maybe if you said, "Hey, I like where my beard is going. What do you think?" they would be likely to provide a compliment no matter what they really thought, but at least it would get them to get over the barrier of not knowing if they are supposed to comment or not comment. Maybe later, they could comment more honestly.

I've had a similar experience lately. I have been growing my hair rather long and reached a point where the only practical way to deal with it was to tie it in a pony tail. Every adult carefully avoided commenting on it. The first person to make any reference to it was a young teenager who just simply said, "Hey, I like your ponytail." After that, her parents were able to comment, but until someone "broke the ice" they just seemed to feel they couldn't say anything one way or the other.

It's a fairly beardly looking beard, I must say. Certainly much better than my attempts, which come out more "homeless person"

Very cool. I want to grow one, but I can't stand the itchiness of more than a few day's growth. I usually shave every other day, especially with dry skin during the winter months.
