I look forward to February the 15th every year. I have since becoming an avid Rock n Roll fan at the age of 14. February the 15th is the day after Valentine's Day which is just an excuse for unmarried couples to hop in the sack and shag. February the 15th is also Mick Avory's Birthday. Valentine's Day had put a bad taste in my mouth twice over the course of my life time. I had that really bad taste in my mouth, between 1995 and 1998. The second time that I had a bad taste in my mouth was between 2007 and 2009. If I keep my heart locked up, than I won't have that bad taste in my mouth, anymore.

Valentines day is just an excuse for the shops to fleece the customers.

this.. if you really love someone you can tell them anytime in any way and it rarely requires a card or sappy poem etc.

Valentines Day exists for the sole purposes of keeping Hallmark in business and rubbing in the fact that people like myself are STILL single.

Valentines Day exists for the same reason Mother's Day exists and Christmas exists and birthday celebrations exist, and that's to get people to exchange a bunch of useless crap every year to keep the economy going. If you want to get somebody something, do it because you care about them, not because of what day it happens to be on the calendar. If I never had a calendar in front of me, how would I know when to get you a gift? Whether the holiday is noble or not is irrelevant, the point is that it's all fake and it always was.

The thing I like best about Valentines Day, is that it's no different to any other day of the year to me.

Now I get to wait a few days on the dating website, just to not look desperate and trying to pick someone up for Monday. Which I'm not. But people are remarkably shallow.

I hate the day in general, but being single and looking makes it about infinitely worse.

I find the holiday is merely useless frivolity. I don't think there needs to be a day where I am expected to love someone "more" than any other day and/or purchase crap for her.

I take the day for what it is and move on. Best to treat it as just another day, not a "Hallmark holiday."

Here Here!

I would rather get a rose bush or some other cool plant than a dozen roses. But it has always been nice to get hand picked flowers from my children while they were growing up. I enjoy giving hearts full of chocolate to my children too. It's fun to make cards and give them to those I love rather than buying them a card.

@ Mick, February 15th is my Mother's birthday too. :D

Why must people get depressed over this day? So what if you are single, you can still buy your family things or send your online friends Valentine Greetings. To me this holiday became nothing when I got to middle school because it's when kids stop sending out valentines to their classmates and candy but I still liked sending out cards or candy but then I stopped when I was 16. Now it's something again because I have a husband and I buy him chocolates. Oh that reminds me then. I better do it after the potluck.

i'm not depressed over the day, i highly doubt i'd buy anyone a card ever, i don't for christmas or birthdays etc. don't like greeting cards at all. or 'holidays'
