I haven't been able to sleep normally for months. Any suggestions? NyQuil doesn't seem to be working. :(

Try doing things which exhaust you during the day.
& then make sure you have a calm routine before you sleep.

Thanks for your reply. Maybe going running or something during the day will help.

I always find on days when I go running I sleep much better.
If I don't, I always have trouble sleeping.
& same with doing stimulating things just before you go to bed, it's hard to switch off.

I've found that the best cure for insomnia is not to worry about getting enough sleep. Go to bed and lie there with your eyes closed but do NOT think about how much of the night is left, whether you'll fall asleep or how tired you'll be tomorrow. Just trust that you'll get the rest you need, that lying quietly with your eyes closed is in itself refreshing, and eventually your sleep pattern should return to normal.

I have a better nights sleep on the days that I work. If I don't work, I have a hard time sleeping through the night.

Define 'sleep normally' - not able to get to sleep, not getting restful sleep, waking up at odd times, etc.?

Apart from the normal suggestion to follow good sleep hygiene - normal things like lavender massage, relaxation methods, breathing techniques, hot baths and warm milk - chill before bed and keep bed for sleeping only, it'll help you get better sleep.

It's often down to anxiety and issues in life - deal with whatever you can deal with the best you can, for general worries or anxiety it might be an idea to try Emotional Freedom Techniques...I don't buy into the whole energy field stuff, I think it is more mental, but my mother learned this via her hypnotist and it helps her a lot with sleeping problems and depression. A similar thought is this little finger trick.

Melatonin is love - apparently those of us on the spectrum are lacking in melatonin, for most people taking this is the best thing to help with occasional sleeping issues (i.e. better than herbal or over-the-counter sleeping pills), or I've had some good results with 5-Hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) too. You can pick up these pills in many health stores. Another something to look for in health stores would be valerian root or a passionflower tincture, oh and up your magnesium, calcium and B12.

Wow! Thank you for the replies you guys! I will try to not think about it too much, and maybe take a few more vitamins and watch my health as well. I'll look at those emotional health techniques too - I'll try anything before any sort of medication! I'm up all night and sleep all day, so at least I get sleep. However, it takes my whole day away and that makes me very unproductive.

Thanks again for the advice!
